About Me

***NOTE TO ALL BANDS/MUSICAL ARTISTS SEEING THIS PAGE**THIS IS WHAT I LIKE:Please, before requesting me as a friend, take a moment to look at my musical tastes. I'm a metalhead. I don't like pop, I don't like hip-hop, I don't like rap, and I especially don't like emo. Proper rock or metal bands, go ahead, I'd be glad to hear from you. Otherwise - no offence meant, but I'm not your style and you're not mine, so please concentrate on the people who'd be interested in your music and save time for both of us.Click here to get your own Unique Contact Box - Over 1840 to choose from

The basics: I am very small, intense about a lot of things, a lover of metal music, philosophy, anything intelligent and my friends. I'm a confirmed pagan, following what my own head and heart tell me rather than what anybody else tells me to think or believe (try living over the road from a church with a very determined vicar... not fun), and I'd be grateful if people stopped trying to convert me, because I'm not interested, or assuming I'm a Satanist, because I'm not (although Crowley definitely had the right idea). Theological and philosophical discussions welcomed! I'm a first-year undergraduate student at Cambridge University, studying Anglo-Saxon, Norse and Celtic - yes, I do know it's weird, but I much prefer to do something weird and be interested than do something 'normal' and be bored. I despise the corruption of politics, love travelling, sing all the time, think too much and feel more at home in a wood than anywhere else on Earth. I'm not what you'd call a hippie, but I love the natural world and believe we really need to do something about cleaning our act up, because all thet beauty and goodness can't survive in a concrete jungle. I use nicknames as much as I do my real name, am contemptuous of stupidity and small-mindedness, ignore people who put me down and would like to talk to anyone with something interesting to say for themselves.

My Interests

Music, literature, the Japanese, philosophy, music, singing, fire, clever things, practical jokes, anarchy, reading old Gothic novels, my friends, paganism, music...

I'd like to meet:

Cliff Burton, Leonardo da Vinci, Stephen Fry and Alistair Crowley.

Music:

My first and major musical love is and will remain Metallica. And in no particular order... Megadeth**, Anthrax**, Trivium**, Iron Maiden*, Children of Bodom**, Cradle of Filth, Mudvayne, the 69 Eyes, Roadrunner United, Slipknot*, Avenged Sevenfold, Soulfly*, Motley Crue, Slayer**, Alter Bridge*, Deathstars, Rammstein, Apocalyptica, Black Label Society, Black Sabbath*, Led Zeppelin, Velvet Revolver*, In Flames*, Machine Head, Nine Inch Nails, Pantera, Malice Mizer, X-Japan and many many more I've probably forgotten. I would have put Motorhead* but I'm too scared of Lemmy, ditto Society 1* and Dirt. Stars mean that I've either seen the band, or have tickets to see them. I'm also getting more and more into the blacker side of metal - Emperor*, Wintersun*, Amon Amarth*, hell, let's even throw some Finntroll* in there...I also like a lot of old rock, old punk (real punk, not the currently-fashionable whiny nonsense), classical, and various other scattered bits and pieces. I'll listen to anything once, but not necessarily twice.

Movies:

Lord of the Rings, Donnie Darko, anything with a clever plot, anything adapted from a book by Poe, anything horror, especially anything Asian horror or anything Hammer horror, anything which will make me think.

Television:

I usually don't think a great deal of the TV - so much of it is made for people with an IQ in the minus numbers, so partonising and condescending and plain moronic, but there are a few things I like. Not many.

Books:

I'll read anything that comes my way, I'm voracious with literature. My favourites are Tolkein, Milton, Poe, Lawrence, Lovecraft... and so on.

Heroes:

Philosophically and classically, Leonardo da Vinci - he was everything he wasn't allowed to be, he was a true genuis. And musically, Cliff Burton, just because - something about him speaks to me, and that's reason enough.
