Memphis, TN is know mainly for commercialized blues cafe’s, Beale Street, Elvis impersonators and a high crime rate in such catagories as burglary, car theft and homicide. Despite popular belief, modern music doesn’t make the list. Oh we have Saliva and Three 6 mafia but what else is there in a time of producer driven boy bands, rap metal, american idol and born again rock. The answer is simple ... Area 69.Area 69 as we know it began in 2001. Unaffected by the trends and fads of the time we began to explore and write music for the people that mattered most. Ourselves. We had the talent, the drive and, let’s be honest, nothing better to do. It was perfect.Area 69 whipped out a 4 song demo in 2002 and shopped it around to local clubs. The response was immediate and it was obvious that they where not alone in being completely bored with the state of modern music. If you are satisfied with Top 40 and MTV, then by all means, enjoy the next season of The Real World or even the next P Diddy video. If not, then come out to the shows pick up a CD and enjoy something original. There is a cure for the mundane state of things. It’s Area 69.
