Bassplayers do it better ^_^

About Me

I started playing piano when I was 7 years old. My father is a keyboard player and my mother teaches flute at a music school. We had an electric piano in the house and I took lessons for a while, then I switched to several other instruments. At that time I wasn’t really interested in music because I was so young and I had better things to do ( hanging out with friends :D ). So the time passed by and when I was 12, I tried again. This time with the bass guitar. I got a Jim Harley P-bass and took lessons at a music school and soon discovered Stuart Hamm and my life was changed forever. I’ve never heard a bass played like that before. I got Stu’s Radio Free Albemuth album and listened to it all the time. At that time I got into bass very seriously and practiced a lot. Soon I discovered Gary Willis, Jeff Berlin, Allan Holdsworth and some other cats. I remember one day when my father had shown me a videotape he owned. It was Chick Corea Live In Madrid. There’s where I saw John Patitucci. I was floored again…plus I saw him playing acoustic bass. From then I went to music school to play double bass and study classical music, where I graduated elementary and secondary school, specifically for classical music. While I was in secondary school I had some bands (playing blues, progressive, etc...) where everyone was older than me. Not only that – they were better musicians and I learned much from them. Soon I got the awesome opportunity to share what I had learned in those years. A guy from the official Fender dealer in Slovenia called me and asked if I could play bass at the clinics they were doing that year. Those were the gigs where the bass was played the way I wanted a bass to be heard and spread the way of non-traditional bass playing. Since then I play at clinics almost every year. At those gigs I met also Matjaz Sterze who is my good friend and one of the best rock guitar players in Slovenia. He asked me to record bass for him (for the band Wellblott) – I did – and was truly honoured, because that guy was truly a legend for me. I saw him on TV totally smokin’ the guitar when I was 13. Soon I got a call from my good friend and drummer Reby to join the group of one of the Slovenian legends of rock – Pero Lovsin. I didn’t hesitate. Since then, I've played with him and have a great time. Pure Rock and Roll:) There I play what bass is meant to be… A bass… But in my “free” time I constantly think about making a record of my own, playing the ideas I came up with in all those years, recording them and waiting for the right moment in my life to make them see the light of day…STAY TUNED!
