I am here for Dating, Serious Relationships and Friends

About Me

crazy but worth it, devoted friend and son, creative, clever, but not conceited, experienced traveler, joke teller, well read, well educated, diverse interests, I speak French, some Spanish and a little Italian, can read ancient Greek and Latin, for more info contact me

My Interests

reading, writing, travel, telling bad (?) jokes, cooking, hiking with my dog, swimming, camping, spending time with friends, movies, music, summer concerts at the Hollywood Bowl, Roman history/culture, mythology, languages

I'd like to meet:

someone who speaks French (native speaker or near-native proficiency), plays chess, has a dark sense of humor, is brave yet sensitive, is around my age and who knows the difference between Rimbaud and Rambo (and would rather have Rimbaud); I also cannot stomach the cowards who won't answer you (and given the panoply of media that is at our fingertips today, it is truly inexcusable). I guess people like that need to do some growing up, right? My New Year's resolution is to find someone OR to be found by someone. Sure, I have other resolutions, but this one belongs here. And I do NOT suffer fools gladly.

Music:

björk. soundtracks. françoise hardy. étienne daho. bridgitte bardot. serge gainsbourg. yann thiersen. connie stevens. bach. land of the loops. patsy cline. elvis. portishead. the smiths. chris isaak. sigur ros.

Movies:

A Room with a View, Shakespeare in Love, Amélie, Welcome to the Dollhouse, Muriel's Wedding, Happiness, The Two Towers, Requiem for a Dream, Dancer in the Dark, Freeway, South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut, Lost in Translation, The Hours, Mulholland Drive, Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me, Dune (the Lynch version!), Mortal Kombat, Batman, X-Men, X-2, Alien, Aliens, Alien 3, Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, Sitcom, Giorni, Elling, Au revoir les enfants, Ponette, Pas très catholique, J'ai pas sommeil, La reine Margot, Presque rien, Little Miss Sunshine, Babel, and Freeway (I ain't no trick baby!)

Television:

Rome, The Family Guy, King of the Hill, Mad TV, Dr. Who, The Simpsons (I love Ralph Wiggum and when he grows up, I'm gonna marry him!). Does I, Claudius count? Although a little caveat - I don't have a tv anymore (isn't that strange and subversive?)!
