Posted: Friday, 02 June 2006 7:00AMFatal Shooting Leads To Crash Onto Dan Ryan CHICAGO (STNG) -- One man was killed and another man injured in a drive-by shooting that ended with the car the victims were driving crashing through a barrier on the Dan Ryan Expressway early Friday.The incident began on a South Side street and ended with the crash, near 95th Street and the Dan Ryan, about 2:30 a.m., said police News Afairs Officer David Banks.According to preliminary police reports, the car, which contained two men and one woman, was near 99th Street and Michigan Avenue when another vehicle pulled up alongside it and the occupants of the second vehicle opened fire on those in the first car, striking the two men.The car with the shooting victims then crashed through a fence near 96th and State Streets and through a barrier on the Dan Ryan Expressway, Banks said.One of the two shooting victims, (R.I.P.) Ben Gibson, 23, of 245 W. 109th Pl., was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where he was pronounced dead at 3:55 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.The other shooting victim was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, Banks said. That man's condition was unknown, Banks said.Chicago police were handling the investigation of the shooting, while Chicago District Illinois State Police were conducting traffic control around the scene of the crash at the Dan Ryan, according to an Illinois State Police trooper. The driver, Ben Gibson, 23, of the 200 block of West 109th Place, was pronounced dead at 3:35 a.m. at Stroger Hospital, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
