About Me

I have the superhuman power to stay at rest for years at a time. Loud noises and sudden movements make me uneasy, as do new experiences. So how the heck is it that for 3 years I ended up living in Japan, and travelling South East Asia? Well, it wouldn't be, if not for the excellent friends I've got, and the huge amounts of alcohol they've put into me. :)Now I'm back in my little house on the prairies, wondering where to wander next.Anyways, have a look at my photo album, if you like: http://www.pbase.com/alexjet

My Blog

Sore and geeky

Don't try this at home, kids. Been killing time online for the last four hours or so, trying not to think about the thrashing I took at tonight's taekwondo class.  Tested for my green belt a few ...

One more Valentine's minute...

My feet are about to fall off.   Seriously though, all broken toes aside, nothing Taekwondo can throw at you will work your legs and feet like a long and busy Valentine's dinner rush at a hi...

Bored

I don't know if it's lack of sleep, lack of food, lack of immune system, or lack of excitement, but I've been so tired lately. I really should be at the gym or taekwondo, but instead I nap, and wat...

Packing nerves

Well, it's the last minute before I have to leave on my trip, so as usual I'm just starting now to pack my bags. This has become my every-trip routine now, and I'm not sure it's such a bad thing. I ...

Broken toe, say it ain't so

So I broke my big toe during my last taekwondo tournament. I planted a very powerful turning kick right in my oponent's kneecap, and the kneecap won. A loud snap, a faint whimper, a little cold spra...

Know when to roll 'em

Japan's coinage system is beyond ridiculous. There are 6 types of coins: 1, 5, 10, 50, 100, 500.. So what happens if something costs 51 yen? You pay 100, and get back four 10s, a 5, and four 1s....

Ah, sweet seratonin and edorphins. How thy rush cheers me.

Nothing like a little love to raise one's spirits. A little love, and a big typhoon like the one I'm seeing right now which just caused a huge oil drum to fly across a parking lot into a driving truc...

There and Back Again

Well, just got back from probably my shortest vacation ever, outside of cross-border shopping trips to Minot, North Dakota. I and two cool friends went to Thailand and Cambodia last weekend, to see ...

Appetite for Destruction

So I survived the tournament, and even had the luxury of not being the one to go home in an ambulance- that honour belonged to a poor 13-year old who got his insides messed up by a flying knee. I fou...

Uh oh.

Hmmm. No damage done at practice last night. Instead found out that I'll be in the ring against blackbelts in tomorrow's fight. Spared current pain, on the promise of even greater future pain. S...
