Friends. Family. Hockey :"Why do we skate back and forth night after night? Late nights, early mornings, cold rinks, sweat dripping. Friday nights, Saturday evenings. Broken bones, stitches and bruises. We skate through it all. We do it because to us the smell of fresh sweat is heavenly, cause sometimes wind burn frees your spirit, because on a regular night plans could come up, disappear, and end in the locker room drinking beers and shooting the shit, because your invincible once you step on the ice. Cause a nasty goal can make you smile all night, because scars are battle wounds, because the rattle of the boards and your stick on the ice is a rhythm to live by, because its possible to skate fast enough to leave life behind. you lace up the skates, put on the gloves, strap on the helmet, and walk onto the ice and it doesn't matter that you failed the test, didn't get the girl, had horrific family problems, or that you got a ticket on the way there... you're world is right for the next couple hours. Thats the best part of it all....I do it, because i love it"--I love my girlfriend to the ends of the earth
