I have been skating since 1989. I was a bmxer (race and freestyler) before turned into skateboard. I'm more of old school style skating and i love doing them.
Currently, I'm one of the two only remain skaters from Ipoh (maybe Perak) besides Joe Ipoh that has been skate from that era till today. None of our friends from that time still skating. But we still keep in touch with each other.
My very first skate contest and demo was in 1991. Organised by Yayasan Perak and we did the demo right infront of the Perak Raja Muda. After the demo, a mini competition was held inside the Indra Mulia Stadium. In 1992, i formed a band (probably the first skate punk band in Malaysia) with Joe Ipoh, Mat Tose and Bob (all skaters) and we did our first show sometime in late 1992.
In 1993 - 95, both myself and Joe Ipoh won in various competition and we mainly got top 5 - 10 (Joe were in top 3). Also in 1995, both of us were invited to perform a skate demo jamming session with Pa'Din and friends in Komtar Penang sponsored by PUMA. At that time he was the only first Malayian skaters ever get sponsor. In 1995, an indoor skatepark was build in Ipoh called Dynasty. Joe work there and most of us organised gig / show there every week and invited many local bands from every states.
Then in 1996, after working in a skateshop in Yik Foong, Ipoh (Egg Squad Wear). I have decided to moved and work in KL and stayed with my aunt. Later Joe moved to KL too with his family. A friend name John recommended us to his boss who is the owner of Zone 5, Kota Raya and we got sponsored by them (I guess we are the 2nd and 3rd skaters get sponsored besides Pa'Din). Yet Dynasty shut down it's business in early 1996.
In 1997, Pa'Din (again) invited us to a jammin session demo for the launching of Sri Andalas skatepark. We did managed to promote the skateshop name there. Later we did travel a lot to various competitions and demos include Singapore. In late that year, MESA did a big extreme competition on the roof top of Bukit Bintang. I 've got 6th place and that was the last competition i've enter and won.
In 1998, got married. But still skating but not as good or as much as usual. Got a kid (son) in 2000. I've been concerntrate more on work and family and less skating at that time. But the band still going storng till today. Did a show in 2004 and we still got so many offer each year including organisers from overseas. In 2001, started my own label called Sk8edge and thought of doing a skate mag. But then i only managed to be a contributor for Revolution mag. In 2004, a company looked up for an experience skateboarder and writer and they hire me. The mag was called X-games and only managed to stand in the local market for 10 months. Later became a controbutor writer for 3X magazine (another local extreme sports mag). In 2005, get back in various competition for fun...That's it...
