Myspace Layouts by Pimp-My-Profile.com

I am a Coral Gables native (sort of) who lived in Los Angeles for 2 years and spent most summers in Buenos Aires, Argentina and of Polish, Scottish, German and English backgrounds. Then throw in a mother who lived in Colombia for 7 years and I'm a pretty mixed up cookie. I speak fluent Spanish with no US accent, but I'm not Latina/Hispanic. Eric (my husband) and I have been married for almost 7 years (together for 9) and have 2 boys, Trent & Toby, who are both mildly autistic, but please don't feel sorry for us. They are wonderful and although there are MANY challenges, we try to look at the positive of the situation.
I work part-time at a bookstore in Coral Gables called none other than BOOKS & BOOKS. It's a wonderful place and truly one of the last great independent bookstores on earth. www.booksandbooks.com is the website. See my picks under STAFF RECOMMENDATIONS. I love reading, movies and theatre more than most people and have an addiction to pepperoni pizza.

My Interests

GO RED SOX!!!!
I love reading a great book...the type you read and you feel like you need to tell everyone they MUST MUST MUST read, cooking awesome meals to share with my family and friends, movies that make you laugh & cry, writing stories and articles about things that matter to me, spending time with friends & family, GOOD stand up comedy, Marlins & Red Sox Baseball, Dolphins football (when they aren't 0-7), traveling and I love love love DISNEY WORLD & DISNEYLAND.

Since there is no category for favorite theatre shows, I'll use this space. I am a musical theatre addict. My first Broadway show was when I was 10 years old in 1985 and it was BIG RIVER. That same year I saw STARLIGHT EXPRESS on the West End in London. (I may be one of the only people on earth to adore that show.) I go to NYC about once per year to see shows and I try to make as many as I can at local regional theatres here in Miami. I used to aspire to be an actor, however, that just didn't pan out for me. Now I'm just avid about supporting the art and my friends who are actors. Below are a few of my favorite shows:

I've actually never seen this show, but I have almost every song memorized.

There are more shows that I love such as The Fantasticks, Floyd Collins, Hairspray, Aida, Crazy For You, Movin' Out, I Love You Because, The Full Monty, Spamalot, Thoroughly Modern Millie...

I'd like to meet:

Fun people. Other people who love reading, theatre, movies...Also other parents with autistic children. I think we help each other more than anyone else. Old friends, new friends...

Music:

Create your own Slacker Station now
Many different types. Showtunes, Contemporary Christian, 80s New Wave, 90s Pop, Standards, Jazz...anything really except for gangsta rap, most opera and I'm not fond of bands or singers who sell out as we've seen so frequently these days, but I won't name any names.

As far as my favorite singers/bands...U2

and Robbie Williams

are the only 2 "artists" I guess, that I'd fly just about anywhere to see. I also LOVE Maroon 5

and CHRIS ISAAK

with a passion. Some other favorite bands and singers are The Smiths, Erasure, Pet Shop Boys, Michael Buble, Huey Lewis & the News, Brian Setzer, Johnny Cash, Count Basie, Benny Goodman, Harry Connick Jr., Diana Krall, Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, KT Tunstall, DCTalk, Newsboys, Billy Joel, Madeline Peryoux, Jars of Clay, Mario Frangoulis, Depeche Mode and who doesn't like the Beatles?

Of course, also, now that I'm a mom...I have to listen to lots of kids' music. However, I will say that a lot of music aimed at them is pretty fun. Laurie Berkner is great! Not to mention I think it's wonderful when people like They Might Be Giants and John Lithgow do kids' records. It gives us adults with a frame of reference something to smile at.

Movies:

Some Favorites: SWINGERS (The music alone is amazing!)

HAIRSPRAY!

The ORIGINAL STAR WARS TRILOGY

NOT JUST A GREAT CHRISTMAS MOVIE...

WALK THE LINE

WHEN HARRY MET SALLY...

CONTACT

JERRY MAGUIRE

THAT THING YOU DO!

SLIDING DOORS

There are many more...West Side Story, Chicago, Moulin Rouge, The King & I, Casablanca, The Philadelphia Story, John Cusack romantic comedies like High Fidelity, Better off Dead, Serendipity...and I also adore Disney movies. My favorites are Peter Pan (OBVIOUSLY), Aladdin, Beauty & the Beast, Toy Story 1&2 and Finding Nemo.

Television:

The only 2 shows I make a point to watch live and not just catch up on with TIVO are:

Lost

and Grey's Anatomy

I also love Desperate Housewives, Slings & Arrows, Ellen DeGeneres' show, Dancing with the Stars (When it's good) and The TODAY Show is my morning show. Veggietales, The Wiggles & Blues Clues are my favorite kids' shows. (HEY, WHEN YOU HAVE 2 KIDS UNDER 7 YOU COME TALK TO ME!)I am also a massive baseball fan. GO MARLINS!!!

Books:

I work at Books & Books in Coral Gables. Check out my STAFF RECOMMENDATIONS at www.booksandbooks.com and click STAFF RECOMMENDATIONS.

Heroes:
