The four would then practice in an old beat down building working on fast guitar licks, hooky melodies and 60..s style harmonies, After a variety of different gigs of entire original material the band all of a sudden felt that an extra sound was needed in the songs. It would be one night while Matt Pearson was writing the song Love in a Northern Town, that his brother Ben Pearson would show up and start adding some keyboard to the song. Matt was impressed with the sound and asked his brother to join the band, his brother agreed and the band now became 5, and would be named after a local stone on Stanton Moor called the Corkstone.
In late 2007 the current drummer left the band and was replaced by 19 year old wildman Nick Watmore. The band have been performing ever since classic Brit Pop Indie anthems such as Pretty Good Looking and Valentine to Acoustic Ballads such as True Colours and Upstairs Window, with the songs specifically designed for a one listen hook.
Well who knows what may happen in the future for any band, but its sure been one hell of a ride so far for Corkstone.
