In the early 90’s, Long Beach, California has started a new beginning of some of the most influential hip-hop artists that hit the streets. From the hot releases of The Kronic, Doggystyle, and G Funk Era, Long Beach has been recognized by some of the popular, head bobbing beats that you hear everywhere. This created a new line of producers who are inspired by the sounds of N.W.A., Dr. Dre, Eazy E, and Snoop Doggy Dogg. These two creative, music producers Archer & Sunn met at their freshman years in college.
VIP Records (where Snoop Doggy Dogg on the video, "Who Am I?") had a studio in Long Beach, where these two started their first production development with other artists and producers. They hooked up with Marquis “Chill†Phillips from the R&B group, 12 AM, also a local producer, in assisting them with direction on arranging & songwriting. Archer says, “We had a lot of fun staying up long nights and just creating music for the love of it. We liked hookin’ up with people to collaborate and write out ideas to create a good song. Whether Hip Hop, R&B, or Pop, we did it all.â€
These Long Beach, California natives developed a love for music at an early age from all types of music, Afrika Bambaataa, Madonna, Miles Davis, Michael & Janet Jackson, Stephanie Mills, The Deele, U2, Ready for the World, Depeche Mode, Roger & Zapp, are some of the artists that were very influential to them. “Music back then were classic and original, you can’t replace the 70’s & 80’s. It was from the heart and the artists really made you feel what they were going through in their albums,†Archer & Sunn comments. Trendy everlasting hooks, addictive musical melodies, and soul felt rhythm describe the characteristics of their perfect hit formula to accommodate any upcoming or heavyweight artist with the right energy and delivery.
