I like to do a whole lot of different things. It all depends on my mood and how much stress I'm under. I love pretty much everything that has to do with music - I listen, play, sing, and listen (of course)! I like other artsy stuff too - painting, drawing, clay work, and the like. Watching movies is always fun. Now, for the really scary ones though, you just gotta have someone else there - makes them a bit more bearable!
Some other things that can get my boat floating - drama, dance, genealogy, musuems, criminology, photography...
Here in Montana there isn't a whole lot of provided activities, so you sort of have to make your own. There are plenty of outdoor areas to explore, lakes to enjoy, sunsets to watch, etc. It's something that not everyone has, and something that I'll miss once I have to leave. I know I've got to go, but there are times that I look at the mountains and think "how could I ever leave this?"
YOU!!!
I like to think that any conversation can be intersting. Of course, that depends on what you conjure out of me. Really though, you never know what you're going to find out and learn. Might even meet your new, next best friend, by just saying "hi". Of course, if you message me with "a/s/l" I will ignore you. Be a little creative people. You don't walk up to a person on the street and say that. Try "Hi", it is much more effective, at least with me.
I enjoy listening to just about everything. Hiphop, country, rock, r&b, jazz, classical, rock, punk, pop - pretty much everything is okay. I have so many "favorites" and they change so often, I'd better not start a list of those.
I'm not a huge fan of grunge and heavy metal, but even some of that is pretty good, just not a big enough fan to be able to give any names out of those genres.
I like to play as well. I started with the also saxophone and branched out into percussion, eventually taking on the set, which I love. Now I have my own and am working to get it put up in the garage so that I can play whenever I want and not disturb everyone else in the area that just doesn't "get it". =) I tried the trombone, didn't fare so well. Braces and brass didn't get along too well in my case. I also play piano.
I sing as well and have won several competitions between singing and playing. Got a lot of scholarships for school with it. In fact, at one point, I turned down one package worth over 200K because I chose not to attend that school.
I toy with wring but stick with composing the music rather than the lyrics.
Okay, I admit, it's a long list, but well, if you're reading this then you must really actually want to know. Either that, or you're really bored and this is your odd form of entertainment. In either case, here are some movies that I like:
I like crime type shows - CSI, Law & Order, Profiler, Forensic Files...that sort of stuff. I do think that they are starting to overdo it with the crime dramas though. Plot lines are starting to seem redundant and the characters are becoming flat. I'm an adict though and I will probably tune in regardless. Terrible! I also like SNL, Who's Line, Punk'd, and even some cartoons.
However, I despise most of the stuff on TV these days that involve reality whores who are seeking attention by dancing/singing/slutting. VH1 seems to be getting a lot of those shows, along with lots of other stations. Too bad that our entertainment is supposed to come from others' stupidity and exploits. Isn't it more fun just to go live your life instead of watching others do it instead? And what in the world is up with televised poker? they act like it's a sport! Poker may be fun (yes, I can and do play) but it is very much NOT a sport!
My all time favorite as a kid, and still today, is the Harold's Purple Crayon stories. I still think that it was one of the best books just because it teaches kids to use their imaginations and that anything is possible if you just put your heart into it. I think that too many people today forget about that and settle for only what they can see right in front of them (and sometimes not even that).
More recent reading material, excluding textbooks (thankfully), would be books like Dead Reckoning by Michael Baden, Cracking Cases by Dr. Henry C Lee, Strange Crimes and Criminals by Sifakis, and other such criminology related books. Yes, that is the field I am going into. My bookshelves make me look like an aspiring serial killer, but I assure you, that is not the case. Now that I'm looking at the titles, even I'm thinking that I'm a tad gory these days.
Anybody who, unselfishly, puts themselves above someone else. If you consider what is best for someone else, or what someone else needs rather than be greedy with what you have, whether it's time, money, energy, or anything else, then you fit into that category in my mind. I have too many people who I consider heroic to list here. The ones in my personal life know who they are. I think that letting people know what they mean to you is very important because you never trully know when or if you're ever going to get another chance to tell them if you don't do it right this second.
