Hello, Welcome to my music page. My name is Niko Jaquez, I was born and raised in Bakersfield, CA. I spent 4 of my years as a child in El Paso, TX where my mom's side of the family lives. Born on July 11th 1989, I'm currently 18 years old. Went to Cesar Chavez elementary in Bakersfield, where I first joined choir in 5th grade. After elementary, I stopped singing and didn't pick it up again until my sophomore year, where my first time in a high school choir, I auditioned and made the chamber choir. Barely getting back into the singing thing I was still nervous, basically I was the quiet shy one in choir. I'd never sing really loud where people could hear me. My freshmen and half of my sophomore year was spent at Highland High School, but then moved with my mom and transfered over to Liberty High School. I made it into chorale which was huge, but still very nerve wrecking. There I met the most wonderful lady ever, her name was Rose Peterson and she was our piano accompanist. I'd have to thank her because she broke me out of my shell and would play for me during my lunches and i'd sing. This woman taught me sooo much, no one has ever really took time to help me with my singing, but she did. My junior year she bought two of the josh groban song books, and there she helped me sing almost every song in the books. I learned Italian and a lot of technique with her help. My junior year was my first time ever doing a singing competition, I didn't win but it felt good to get up on stage for the first time with a big audience. After that performance I knew that singing is what I wanted to do. The following year I comepted again in our Liberty Idol competition, again lost, but hey not everyone wins at first, you need experience. I eneded up entering into the Cal State Unversity Bakersfield Solo Festival. There I recieved a command performance singing and italian ara. That was a great accomplishment for me. Then few months later, in April I believe, my friend Melissa and I enetered the CSUB idol competition and there we took first place audience vote! After that win, I knew I needed to compete more, so that summer, I audition for Blaze Idol where I took first place by myself. The music you hear on my page was able to be recorded because of this competition, they payed for 3 hours in the studio, so that was the best thing to ever happen. Just recently I sang in a duet competition at a karaoke place and took first with my friend Therese so I should be recording in the studio soon. Also currently i'm competing in a competition called Total Pop Star, i'm a finalist as of now and need to keep racking in those votes so if you could go to this link and click vote, no registration required.
