Atlas Theatre Ensemble

I am here for Friends

About Me

Atlas Ensemble (originally, Atlas Theatre) was founded in Seattle, WA., in December of 2004. This was done in cooperation with The Shunpike, an umbrella 501c3 organization. The inaugural production was the West Coast premiere of Helen Edmundson's adaption of "Anna Karenina", by Leo Tolstoy. The show received both critical and audience acclaim, for both the artists involved and the company itself. In the fall of 2005, Atlas produced another Seattle premiere, "The Memory of Water", by Shelagh Stephenson. "Water" played to virtually sold-out audiences, and garnished a Footlight Award for the company from the Seattle Times as a "Best of Fringe" production for 2005. Shortly after the show closed, Founder and Artistic Director, Chris Mayse, stepped down and returned to his hometown of Las Vegas, NV.In the winter of 2006, Atlas produced "The Swan", by Elizabeth Egloff. It, too, received critical notice. After "Swan" closed, the company took a hiatus; as several members of the company moved on to pursue other theatrical projects. However, Chris Mayse (Founder and original Artistic Director), has taken the reigns back up, and has brought Atlas back to life here in Las Vegas! We produced our first play, "ART" by Yasmina Reza, in December of 2007; receiving critical acclaim in our inaugural production in town.We are developing several projects currently, and look with hope and high energy towards the continuing growth of the Off-Strip theatrical world! It's an exciting time to be in the theatre community here in Vegas. Won't you join us for the fun?! Stay tuned!
