About Me

*I like to microwave mozarella cheese by itself and then eat it when it's all warm and gooey.*
I am quite well-balanced between too separate ways of thinking. In one manner I am very logical and analytically oriented, but simultaneously I am also quite passionate and emotional. It is rather interesting to me to see which aspect of my personality wins out at any given point in time (though usually it is a tie between the two- balanced scales I definitely am). Anyway, I am nothing if not quite good at seeing both sides of every situation. This of course, just ends up causing me problems more often than not because it tends to make me overly empathetic.
Anyway, this is just a light overview. I find words always fall short when attempting to explain the plethora of characteristics any one individual can tend to embody. It takes a lot of mutual time spent together, as well as a fair bit of effort on both parts for two people to really get to know one another. Ultimately, like everything else it boils down to sufficient shared time. Everything always comes in time.
I love taking photos.
My favorite place in Florida. (The one aspect of the state that I really miss.)
Most amazing sunset I have ever witnessed.

I'd like to meet:

Gene Kelly and Frank Sinatra. Alas, they are both long gone from this level of existence.

Anyone who love Frostys and string cheese as much as I do. Bike riding, intelligent conversations, and frolicking outdoors are definite pluses, as well.

Music:

My musical tastes are extremely eclectic. I grew up on old MGM musicals, so I am a huge fan of Gershwin, Sinatra, Bing Crosby, and the like. I played clarinet for eight years, so I love oldschool ragtime a la Benny Goodman, as well as all the classics, especially Mozart, Chopin, Dvorak, etc. I also love olschool emo/screamo such as In Loving Memory, Inkwell, Portrait, etc. Then there's Constellation Records- Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Hanged Up, etc. Mainly I just try to stay away from the radio and most of the mainstream cliched crap. Yeah, so eclectic is definitely the key word here, as I stated.

That said, the top seven bands at the moment (in no partilcular order):
Raein
Sinking Steps...Rising Eyes
Godspeed You! Black Emperor
Isis
Daitro
Metric
Killsadie

Oh yeah, and I am trying to bring back oldschool early '90's post emo indie bands a la Crank Records. Remember Boys Life, The Hal al Shedad, and Christie Front Drive...? Who's with me on this?!

Television:

I try not to watch too much of it; it has that whole brain-rotting aspect.
That said, I have always been partial to oldschool sitcoms, such as: Mork & Mindy, The Monkees, Get Smart, Green Acres, Family Ties, Star Trek, Alf, Dick Van Dyke, and WKRP in Cincinnati. In more recent times, I love anything by Joss Whedon, most things by the Wayans brothers, Heroes, Nip/Tuck, Boston Legal, CSI, Scrubs, Arrested Development (damn them for canceling it!) Dead Like Me, Simpsons, Family Guy, and a large portion of the Adult Swim toons. Oh yeah, and anything pertaining to forensic science.

Books:

• Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?
• Brave New World
• Into the Wild
• Beauty
• Tropic of Night

Basically any sci fi or historical fiction; anything by Chuck Palahniuk, Sheri Tepper, Octavia Butler, Ray Bradbury, Terri Pratchet, Philip K. Dick, David Brin, Kurt Vonnegut, Nancy Kress, Carl Hiaasen, Tom Robbins, Anne Tyler... Reading is definitely one of my favorite past times.

My mom.

Not pictured: my father, may he rest in peace. On all accounts a man too amazing for this world. I love and miss you, dad.

Amusing anecdote from Friday night.

Jeff and I walked into Brick Bar sometime last night after tiring of SOB and The Pink.  We took up residence about halfway up the bar, at which point I put a cigarette to my lips and started to l...

The New Year's Surprise.

Color and pigment; light and shadow.

Sometimes I feel as though I would be better off living in fantasy world a la Angel or Buffy.  I could really see physically defending the world against evil; battling for the ultimate good. ...
