I am here for Friends

About Me

I'm 43 years young. I was born in Cumberland, MD and raised in Ridgeley, WV. I am the youngest of 3 daughters. I graduated from Frankfort High School in Short Gap, WV. I made the horrible mistake of getting married in 1983 to an mean and abusive man. I finally left in 1999 and divorced in 2000. It was the best decision I ever made. I have always wanted children but never had any of my own. I do have a niece, 2 nephews and a great nephew. I also had the opportunity of helping a close friend with her newborn triplets from 1999 to date. Close to 18 years ago I injured my back at work and now suffer from chronic back pain. I underwent my 4th back surgery on June 4th in Annapolis, MD. For the past 6 years I have been in a relationship with a great guy Scott. My sexy, muscular hottie!! He's been so supportive to me during some very difficuly times. He's been such a blessing. I also have a great group of close friends and family. I love you all so much. My oldest sister was diagnosed with Hodgkins Disease in December of 1982. Thank God, with chemo she quickly went into remission with a clean bill of health. In November of 2006 she was diagnosed with Acute Myelodysplasia, a form of leukumia. Her prognosis was grim without a bone marrow transplant. A few weeks later my middle sister and I were tested to be her match. Mid December we recieved our Christmas miracle that I would be her match 100%. That was a miracle in itself. I began testing at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD in January, and the start of our long journey came on Febuary 6th 2007, the date of the bone marrow harvest from me and the transplant to her a few hours later. I'm happy to report that within months after the transplant her doctors confirmed that my bone marrow was working in her 100%. Now that a year has passed she is doing well and finally resumed her life and is now back to work. This experience has made me realize how precious the gift of life really is. My family shares in being advocates in bone marrow donation. Want more info contact me or visit the National Bone Marrow Registry website. There is nothing more rewarding than being able to save a life and I'd do it all over again even for a total stranger. tennaya layout powered by HOT FreeLayouts.com / MyHotComments
