Good thing I didn't get used to birthday parties, because this was the last one I'd have in my life (party, not birthday, ha ha!)

Welcome to The New Digs!
Visitors to my page will notice that I've changed the format. In order to keep me from being, well, LAZY, and overburdened by uploading a dozen or more cool songs and relevant info as in the past in a timely fashion, friends and fans will now need2make daily visits to my page. That's because every day, I will change the song or songs featured on my page. I'll pick out a cool-ty that I've been spinnin' on the hi-fi of late - whether garage, soul, pop, girl-group
bubblegum...anything is fair game! But it will only last for a WEEK, to be replaced by a different disc.If ya snooze, you'll lose! Jes' click on the label pic to download the link for the song. Come on by and visit everyday! OK?
A lil' editorial before we get goin'....Posting random songs from my 45rpm collection is done purely for fun and enlightenment to the guys 'n' gals who dig swingin', long-lost and largely forgotten sounds ignored by the vapid masses. Without this page here, or similar sites etc. that feature music of an obscure and forgotten realm on 45s - whether soul, garage, pop, what-have-ya - the songs end up relegated solely to knowledgeable collectors, most of whom could not be bothered to share - I know some of these types personally! These rekkids should inspire others to seek, find and most important, make sure newcomers have the chance to hear 'n' discover what all our fussin' is about!
I do not agree with the philosophy professed by some blog site operators. They upload reissued material from other labels, typically out of print or bootlegs but keep everything uploaded on-line in perpetuity for endless downloads. Not cool!
Now, that said, if some party or person has a direct involvement to any of my posted songs, and wishes that they be removed for legal reasons, please let me know and I'll take care of it. I hope the majority side with the benevolent among us! They'll only last for one day anyway!
Sorry for the failure on my part to get a different 45 up every day.
The workload with my book project is just too daunting to keep up with a daily update..will return with a weekly offering sometime in MAY!

The REAL STEVE PEELE on "Boss Radio"

Yeah, that was ME back in the 80's!
On-the-air, every Sunday afternoon at 5! A three hour, fast-paced, rockin' '60s music program broadcast on my college radio station, WQAQ-FM. My show was presented in the same format and hi-energy style as the legendary "Boss Radio" format did in the '60s. My goal was to recreate a show that sounded just like AM rock & roll radio did in the mid-late '60s. I can't begin to relate just how much work went into a three hour presentation. You can read all about the origins and history of the Real Steve Peele and the Boss radio show in my blog noted as such - the historical digs are far too lengthy to post on this page. I recorded nearly every show on the stations' beat-up K-set deck, so I've uploaded a pair of airchecks in mp3 format. Each runs about 15 to 20 mins so it might require a few minutes to get the downloads. Now everyone can hear and hopefully enjoy a lost slice of radio history. Just as my weekly show open intro proclaimed:
"Get set to dig the REAL STEVE PEELE!
It's NOT a generic oldies show pal,
It's a NOW sound. Outasite, and Happenin'!"

The DOUBLE NAUGHT SPYS

As promised right here on my page many moons ago, I'm finally gettin' around to posting some vintage 'n' unissued recordings from my former combos. My long-winded account might eventually relocate to a band space page but for now, I may as well start retelling the saga right from the beginning. I'm a chronological kinda guy anyway...everything should always be recounted in strict order. HA! You'll get six and half years of Double-Naughts tomfoolery, via installments whenever I have time to plunk-plunk-punk out my recollections on the PC keyboard. After the Spys, I'll get to the Wrong Directions, my second and last combo - those way too short days playin' as a trio were a blast, too!
The first part of the Double Naught Spys story runs in the blog of the same name, as Part 1. I will say here that we have ZERO connection to the other rock group from Los Angeles that took our name for their group in the 1990s. One of their members used to live in the New Haven area, so it isn't hard to figure out where they nicked the moniker! We made sure Spys was spelled with the "Y", we hated whenever somebody wrote it the other way!
I've uploaded fotos from our very first ever performance in front of an audience (a cable TV telethon!) and our first full-set club gig (the Night Shift Cafe), both 21 years ago now! I plan to upload some video clips of performances as well. Read all about the REAL Double Naught Spys in my blog, future editions will relate the whole story.
Here are a few pix featuring the original lineup of the band.
..
More pix of the orignal lineup from both performances, and some newpaper clips and flyers are in the Double Naughts folder of My Photos if you wanna check 'em out!
We never had anything released on disc, but we do have some video footage, as noted in the blog story
Here are the unreleased Double Naught Spys tunes featuring the original lineup,
captured from our very first recording session: January 16, 1988:
Don't Lie To Me Girl
Why Should I Bother With You Anyway

Here is the videotape clip of our group at a cable TV station's telethon in April 1987, we are playing "I Found A New Love", originally recorded by Ognir & The Nite People.

As a former Vox toting guitarist of the Double Naught Spys (New Haven, CT's garage no-good-niks, 1986-1993)
and a brief get together with ex members as the Wrong Directions

(60s rec-room inspired teenbeat mayhem), I appreciate the efforts of all who keep the spirit alive, whether by playing in a band, or just as important, supporting those who do.
BUY the records/compilations on vinyl or CD, GO see live shows, join in on blogs, forums, etc.
That said, I do not add bands unless you have a garage sounding combo with some direct link to the 60s.
There are just too many bands that ain't, and I don't feel like deleting tons of add us requests everyday.
So, if you think I'd like your band, drop me a note,,
and chances are good I'll add you.
It is fantastic to see all the young-un's (those much younger than me!)
digging the sounds us long-timers have championed for two plus decades!
Here's a pic of us havin' a ball at one of our fave dives to blast teenbeat mayhem:
Geno's in Portland, Maine. We made more $$$ there than anyplace else!!
Plus drink specials couldn't be beat..RIP, Geno!
For all you swooning boss chicks, from left to right:
