As you can see, I love reggae music. I enjoy going to the shows and chillin to all kinds of reggae. The funny thing is, when I go to these shows, people probably look at me, like who is that guy and what is he doing here. Well, if ya want the truth, I've probably been listening and studying reggae music longer than 90% of the people in the place.
My Dad had me listening to Bob Marley, Max Romeo and Peter Tosh as long as I could remember. When I was in nursery and elementary school, if you asked me what my favorite song was it wasn't something from Sesame Street, it was always Buffalo Soldier. When I was 12 years old I remember hanging with Mikey Dread at my parents house, watching his new music video that hadn't been released yet. He was there with my cousin, Billy Lightning, who is responsible for introducing me to dancehall. In fact, Lightning and Ambassador Jr. helped jump start the Rhode Island dancehall scene and truly cross-bred it with the skateboard industry, something which continues today
While many of those in the dance were probably listening to Naughty by Nature and Public Enemy, I was getting snuck in the back door as a 13 year old and seeing Cutty Ranks live at the Church House Inn. I remember, that same year, riding my bike to Brown University to see Shinehead live. When he needed a light for his spliff, my boy Paul and I supplied it and we bunned with Shinehead.
My cousin started teaching me how to chat when I was 15, and by high school I had my own little sound system in my bedroom. Unfortunately I didn't stick with it through college, but over the past few months i've been working on some new lyrics and getting back my skills at ridin di riddim. Will I ever get it back? Who knows, it's just fun.
Besides reggae, I chill alot at home. As boring as it sounds, I love to watch TV and I have a multitude of "season passes" on my TiVo. I have the greatest dog in the world, Teeny. I call her my daughter because I spoil her like a human :). As for exercise I love to box, and I am 1-0 as an amateur boxer, although I have been in and out of the gym since I was 16. I am currently out of the gym and on a diet of Heineken, Red Stripe and Narragansett beer :). I also enjoy skateboarding, although I am too old now to truly do it often. I recently made my comeback and I can honestly say that I now suck :) I used to be good though, I swear, when I was a youngster I was a sponsored amateur and won the East Coast Championships in Ocean City, MD one year.
My best professional experience has probably come from working for my Dad for many years at his surf shop, The Watershed. If anyone ever saw Dogtown & The Z-Boys, well the Watershed was the like the Zeypher shop of the East Coast. The 'Shed produced a ton of sponsored surfers, bodyboarders and three major professional skateboarders, Eric "Red Beard" Pupecki, Jason Maxwell and Fred Smith.
When the 'Shed ceased operations I opened my own shop called Gansett Juice when I graduated from Northeastern University. It's right near the Town Beach in Narragansett. Despite it's small size the shop kicks ass and is by far the only true 'core surf & skate shop in the area. While you won't find me there much anymore, as I now run the North American operations of BIC Surfboards, you can usually catch my sister Tricia or her boyfriend Ryan holdin' down the fort. You will also catch my Dad, Hall of Fame surfer Peter Pan, running in and out of the shop.
I also got a ton of experience working for a professional boxing promoter, Classic Entertainment & Sports. I started in boxing as a journalist at the tender age of 13, which is when I got my nickname "Dr.TKO." I moved on to become one of the sports top matchmakers, having helped build the careers of many of today's top contenders & champions including WBC world light heavyweight champion "Bad" Chad Dawson, Contender stars Peter Manfredo, Jr. & Gary Balletto. I am also very proud of my work matching the tail end of the career of Vinny Paz, including his 50th win! Other notable fighters I have played a major roll with have been Scott Pemberton & Ray Oliveira. In 2003, I was named NABF Matchmaker of the Year, becoming the youngest to ever receive this award. I left CES after 14 years with the company. After a 2 year hiatus I returned to CES as matchmaker for a show at Foxwoods Casino on January 25th. I am also now working hard at booking matches as well as advising boxers on all levels. In addition, I promoted amateur shows and have done television color commentating for boxing events, and would love to do both again.

Here are some of my favorite quotes:
"A creative man is motivated by the desire to achieve, not by the desire to beat others." -- Ayn Rand"You don't understand. I coulda had class. I coulda been a contender. I coulda been someone Charley, instead of a bum, which is what I am, let's face it. I'm a bum. It was you, Charley." -- Marlon Brando as Terry (On the Waterfront)
"Let me tell you something my friend. Hope is a dangerous thing. Hope can drive a man insane." -- Morgan Freeman as Red (Shawshank Redemption)
"The point is ladies and gentlemen that greed, for lack of a better word, is good. Greed is right. Greed works. Greed clarifies, cuts through and captures the essence of the evolutionary spirit. Greed, in all of it's forms - greed for life, for money, knowledge - has marked the upward surge of mankind." -- Michael Douglas as Gordon Gecko (Wall Street)
"There's no hope, no chance, no loophole, no escape for a sufferin man. 'Cause everytime I lift my head above water, and try to save myself from drown, there's an overnight scheme all worked out designed to keep me down." -- Beres Hammond
