To whom it may concern:
First & foremost I want to thank you for your time. I know there are a thousand things you
could be doing at this moment, but youre taking time to read my bio and I appreciate it!
All right, straight to the point at hand, my stage name is X Rated, which was given to me
by a friend when I first started doing music. I was told its because of my raw lyrics & for
the way I boldly deliver them. I think its because Im not afraid to say what other people
just think, and Ive been tellin it like it is for nine years.
So thats it for the history lesson, now Id like to tell you about some of my
accomplishments. I pride myself on writing & performing all my own material. Ive worked
on developing my own artistic abilities throughout these nine years, putting in my time,
collaborating with other artists, working with multiple labels, & in several studios. Ive
helped bring recognition to myself, & others by advertising a CD that Im on, which features
Bizarre from D12 (R.I.P. "Proof"). I put up posters, handed out flyers, & spoke with
people on the streets of Detroit (and elsewhere) to advertise the CD in which I set up
numerous consignment accounts in every independent music store and mom & pop shop that
would help me in my endeavors. All the while, collecting the information needed for
corporate music stores & selling the remaining CDs out of my trunk. This is the kind of
drive, hunger, struggle, & self-motivation it takes in this industry, but thats nothing in
comparison to my commitment to this dream.
Ive written hundreds of songs, and continue writing and recording on a daily basis whenever
possible.
What Im working on now is putting out my debut album "Step To Da Mic". Its been a
long time comin and is heavily anticipated in Detroit. I dont have a release date yet, but
I have no intentions on rushing the project. I cant drop it like its hot, Ill drop it
cause it is.
Presently I am signed with "Organized Camp/LowLifes Gangstaz" out of Long Beach California. They are affilitated with Tha Dogg Pound.
Since my recent move, Ive been networking &
establishing myself on the west coast. Ive been steadily booking shows & meeting with
different booking agencies & promoters.
Some of my short-term goals are to continue making upgrades to my home studio so I
can work on producing beats of my own & perfecting my delivery. I plan to continue getting
college credits towards an Associates Degree in Applied Science of Musical Engineering.
Im working towards getting my music played at more & more radio stations, and releasing my
debut album.
As for long term goals other than getting my degree, I plan to own my own
clothing line. I also look forward to making my first music video, and having it shown on
BET, MTV, VH1, you name it!
Itll take a lot of time & hard work to become that accomplished, so its
imperative I continue moving forward on my path to success.
Ive been preparing for my music career my whole life, or at least it seems its all
been leading up to it. Having been fathered by a blues & jazz musician, I was exposed to
music at a very early age, and immediately started my journey. As a very young child I
took tap & ballet classes, as I matured I began expressing myself through writing poetry,
which soon made its transformation to lyrics. Soon these lyrics would be accompanied by
music which would lead me to my first studio session, but before that I reflected on my own
self-image, confidence, esteem, & stage presence. I took modeling classes at Barbizon
Modeling School, & also took acting & advanced modeling at John Casablancas Trade School &
Modeling Agency, receiving a Modeling, Advanced Modeling, & Acting Degree. I feel it
really helped me to become comfortable in front of the camera.
I have done many fashion shows & photo shoots. As for music Ive gotten radio play
at Detroit (WJLB) & Ann Arbor (WCBN) radio stations and made personal appearances for radio
interviews at the University of Michigan college campus. Soon I moved on to perform in
clubs & small bars, which I love doing because its the perfect opportunity to get some
exposure, hand out flyers, sell CDs, and get feedback from potential fans on a 1 on 1 basis.
I would always get to know all the DJs & bouncers in the clubs I went to, so I
never had a problem getting to the DJ booth to connect with the DJ & get my songs played
on a regular basis. When the club owner sees the crowd reaction & people requesting my
songs, it makes it easy to set up a twenty-minute block during club hours or a show.
The people that attended my performances & requested my songs are the same people
that let me know it was time to create X Rateds autograph. And thats because they could
see Im not just some hopeful, waiting for an easy break, I am the very real thing youve
been waiting for.
Music comes from every walk of life & knows no boundaries.
Walk with me across the line,
X Rated
