So you want to know something about Joe Blanchard, huh? I'm laid back, funny at times, and I love making music. I was raised an only child by two loving parents. My dad grew up a coon-ass and learned to be one hell of a drummer. The only problem with that is that when I was born, it was all he knew. He quickly learned to play the keyboards to keep the music going and get more gigs. At 8 I was already behind the drums and at 14 I played my first gig with his band. It was around that time that the guitar was peaking my interest. My mom was musically inclined as well, although only playing the trumpet in the high school band(which by the way is how they met), she has great harmony and pitch. Playing music with my father from an early age gave me a lot of appreciation for older music and a variety of styles. It was also the opportunity to play live and constantly be critiqued by my father, much to my dismay at the time but it made me better. When I got to highschool I was ready to rock! I started playing drums and guitar on a regular basis with musicians that were actually my age as opposed to 30 and 40 year veterans in music. At 19 I took my guitar on the road with a traveling rock band playing the southern college circuit. We drank heavily and fell off stage a lot, but it was a blast! At age 20 I decided I wanted to go to college to get my degree in marketing. While in college, I started playing with another cover band around the New Orleans area. At one of the gigs we played in Baton Rouge, I met Adam's Attic. I immediately liked the band and knew that they were more serious about their band then any other I had worked with. A few months later their band manager called me and asked if I'd be willing to fill in for a few shows. After a few weeks, it was obvious that there was chemistry on stage. My guitar parts and help with the musical arrangement of songs was just what the band needed to get to the next level. So instead of just a fill in, I became the 4th member of Adam's Attic. I continued playing with the band for the next 4 years with great success and unity. We did radio and television shows and had decent local following. When the hurricane hit us we were left with the difficult decision to stay and wait around, or try to keep our momentum going. The band decided the best thing to do was to move to Southern California. After that we played in Portugal, Spain, Italy, and Greenland, and that was only in 2006! In 2007 we toured Singapore and Diego Garcia (small island in the Indian Ocean) to play for troops. After over 5 years with the band, I parted ways with them in February 2008. With more free time I finally put my degree to good use and now have a very successful career in marketing and business management. Writing music is fun and no longer a chore as it had come to be. In my spare time I record new songs on my Mac and love expressing myself through an entire song and not just through one instrument. When I get more savvy with my software I will try to put up a few of my samples. To wrap up, everything is better than ever. Thanks for reading!
