I am here for Friends

About Me

Get this widget! .. .. .. .. Get this widget! ..I am an Atheist, (but I respect the right of everyone else to follow their own path)outside the cultural mainstream, well versed in History, grounded in Reason and Freethought, looks to the stars dreaming of where we are going, jams to rock and roll, worships (in a secular manner) John Lennon, seeks divine guidance from Gene Roddenberry, loves to meet my fellow Star Trek & Beatles fans. I would like to live to see world peace before I cease to exist but I am not hopeful about the prospect. OK, I'll admit after attending the 2007 Las Vegas Star Trek Con & talking to my fellow travelers, I am much more optimistic now. I have a wonderful wife who is a RN working on her Master's. I have 3 children, two dogs and one very energetic Big Orange Cat. I grew up in East Tennessee but New Orleans is my adopted home & I won't leave unless we get another Katrina type event. I love to travel with Germany being my favorite destination so far. I love to meet people from all over the world, who are different from me which allows me to explore to whole basis for the Vulcan philosophy of IDIC. I enjoy volunteering at the National World War Two Museum in downtown New Orleans. Thanks to my many Star Trek friends & one special lady, Natalija Nogulich, I plan to return to school to earn my PhD in History.

Cultured, suave and slightly canine

Your Result is: Brian Griffin
You are the cultured talking dog who likes jazz and opera and to sing. You can speak several languages because of your superior intelligence.;?>
Take Which Family Guy Character Are You?

According to the Family Guy Quiz, the character I most associate with is Brian. I am cool with that as Brian is the smartest character on the series. He has a great sense of humor and an animal magnetism with the ladies.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

The Great Bird of the Galaxy! JFK, so we could discuss how history could have been different if he had lived, ditto with brother Bobby (RFK). John Lennon, to discuss the Beatles thing. Socrates to talk about corrupting youth and the consequences. Galileo & Copernicus, to discuss the ramifications of showing where science and reason conflict with and triumph religious dogma. St. Augustine, just to find out why he hated humanity so much. Jesus (who I believe to be a real human) to discuss what happens when your message is interpreted in so many different ways that the original meaning (to me) is lost. Buddha, to gain some insight into enlightenment. Also, it would be way cool to go back to hang out with the ancient Greek fathers who gave us Philosophy. Then I'd drop in on Alexander the Great, spend a few months picking the brains of our Founding Fathers on their thoughts on our Constitution & Bill of Rights. As for today... I'd like to meet members of the Bush Administration just to see if they are all really servants of the Dark Side of the Force under the Sith. I have met several cast members of the numerous Star Trek series at Cons. This has been a very positive & fascinating experience. So I would like to meet more of the cast members. Also it would be exciting to talk to Paul McCartney & Ringo Starr while they are still here making music & to tell them I loved the Cirque de Soliel's "Love" in Vegas.
