Hoping-- breathing like the drowning man

About Me

Visit SnapLayout.com to edit your profile...Any changes you make here could mess things up!

About Me:

I'm a social individual who enjoys working in energy efficiency, biking to work, going out, as well as spending quiet time at home with friends, my grey cat (all cats are grey) and my lovely partner. I'm always involved in several projects, mostly for personal pleasure and ideally some for financial gain. I've managed to whittle most of these things down to a band (see theXplodingboys ), and meditating with some dancing, screaming, laughing, fevered feeling hot hot hot.

I have an affinity for Asian cultures and ways of life, I speak Chinese and Spanish, and I am a well-rounded individual. My ultimate career would be as a Sustainability Consultant for a company with operations or other ties to China (I may be able to do some of this stuff with my current company). I love Chinese cooking, as well as Thai, Indian, and Japanese. I cook Thai and Chinese, and I have friends that take care of the others.

I can usually be found around town in clubs, bars, concert events, sustainability meetings, Green Drinks, and other business and social networking functions. It is what I do naturally.

So, that's about it in a nutshell.

Who I'd like to meet:

Sages and the wise: Ghandi and those like him who understand their role in the world. Visionaries and green-nuts: those who have a vision of, well, good stuff.

My Interests

Asian culture, including cooking, religion, and lifestyle; sustainable supply chains, sustainable business, ethical business process; politics (I'm a lefty); organic foods; post-apocalyptic and foreshadowing books and movies, foreign film, smart movies (I'm not into action much, and I don't like campy humour in general), such as 1984 and Snow Crash - I read a LOT about politics as well; learning new things about culture, environment, business practices, mind-control (religion?), politics, and how I can make a positive impact on the planet.

Television:

Frontline, The Daily Show, Politically Incorrect (when it was on), Scrubs, 24 (even though the fourth season has essentially sucked and I've felt the breathing-down-of-neck from Herr Murdock, I mean torture was EVERYWHERE and it wasn't OK), Frasier, Smallville (I don't know why either), That 70s Show, Robot Chicken. There may be a lot of others, but I actually don't have a lot of time to watch and I don't have cable.

Books:

Various political, linguistics, and environmental books, such as The Language Instinct (Pinker), Ishmael (Quinn), and Moral Politics (Lakoff, a linguist but wrote a political book). I also dig Orwell and Huxley, and that whole era where the western world was trying to figure out its identity and political structure.

Heroes:

'I'm a cult hero.' -the easy cure
