Ryan and Steve have been playing guitar together for as long as both of them have been playing guitar. They would play music from bands such as Megadeth, Slayer, Cannibal Corpse, and Sepultura. The opportunity had never before arisen for them to work together in a band. Ryan and Steve have both worked in various other local projects, but never together in the same one. The opportunity finally presented itself around May 2007, so it was a no-brainer that these two should collaborate on music.
Steve and Dave have worked together in various projects over the past 3 years. Dave had worked in various other projects with and without Steve. After the dissolution of the last project, Dave and Steve decided to continue working together in another project. Enter Ryan and Kryss.
Some of the major influences from different people in the band are various and similar. Influences range from Death to Soilwork, from Megadeth to In Flames, from Jason Becker to Richard Christy, and from Van Halen to Ron Jarzombek. You won’t find a Britney Spears influence in the music by Penchant 4 Chaos.
Penchant 4 Chaos is unique in many ways. First off, they have guitar solos, though not necessarily in every song. There is a certain degree of emptiness if guitar solos are left out 100 percent. Second of all, the drums are very diverse. Many of the beats and tempos change and vary from song to song. Third, there are a variety of vocal styles used to create different effects with the music. There are clean, dirty, and growl-like vocals placed at certain points.
Needless to say, Penchant 4 Chaos is a force with which to be reckoned. Four people have the desire to create music under a name that expresses how they wish to proceed: with a desire to unleash unpredictable music onto the world!!
