Robert Gustav Ledee, better known to the world as OBBY (SOTU), is a DJ following a distinctive path. A Cuban/German native living in Miami, music has been a fundamental part of OBBY's life since he was young having owned turntables since he was just 13. Even from a young age, OBBY was attracted to the abstract.
It was only natural that turntables became a vital tool for OBBY, who craved unique sounds which were only available on vinyl. Having been immersed in electronic music culture since such a young age, the underground music scene resonated strongly with OBBY when he was introduced at 18. He has been a defining artist in it ever since.
OBBY is one of Miami's best kept secrets with years of experience in the local and national music scene. He is highly respected by "those who know". Specializing in genres such as Progressive House, Progressive Breaks, Electro House and hard to find bootlegs, OBBY has had the pleasure of performing in well-known clubs both in Miami, Florida, and throughout the Country, including: Opium Garden, Karu & Y, Resort, Club Space, Nikki Beach, Pearl Champaign Lounge, Privilege Night Club, Tantra Lounge, Blue Lounge, Reserve Night Club, Exit (New York) and Late Night Library (Tallahassee), to name but a few. His most recent residency was at the legendary Crobar on Miami Beach.
With precision mixing of Progressive House along with Progressive Breaks, OBBY is a favorite for people on both sides of the progressive scene and an asset and ally to those who are well evolved in the underground movement. If it is intelligent sounding......OBBY's playing it!
His ability to bring an underground vibe to any venue is what sets him apart from the rest, and his DJ sets are filled with emotive vocals, intelligent rhythms, driving basslines and rare, hard to find remixes. His fresh and alternative sounds have made him stand out in a city saturated by mainstream.
SOTU Sessions, OBBY's show on Miami's WOMB Radio, is soon celebrating its first anniversary, and is one of the most successful dance music shows in Miami with a national and international following. The show is held at a first-rate studio overlooking the renowned Lincoln rd. in Miami Beach, with broadband audio and video for listeners to enjoy via the net.
As resident DJ and creative director, OBBY keeps a high level of quality control by bringing in only the best local DJs, producers and worldwide guests to compliment his sets and artistic vision. The goal, of course, is to keep the latest underground progressive sounds on the airwaves. The show has achieved an impressive following of listeners who live the underground movement.
Also know as SOTU, OBBY's name emphasizes devotion to the underground dance music scene which is not represented on commercial radio or in commercial nightclubs (OBBY does, however, seek to change this).
