Southern Skyline

"Country, Soul, Blues & Rock in a raw mix"

About Me

Southern Skyline was formed in the spring of 2007 by Hank & Willie. They knew of each other but had only met occasionally on some related friends gigs. Their friends told them that they should “get together, have a beer and try to write some songs” and after two or three months of being lazy they finally changed numbers. Soon Hank got a call from Willie and they got together and wrote some songs. It turned out pretty good and they decided to get on with it. They started to hang out a lot and already after a few weeks they knew what the band was all about. Country, Soul, Blues & Rock in a raw mix was gonna help them conquer the world and the hunt for the rest of the members began.
Hank had a good friend from Sala. His name was (and still is) Johan Salomonsson and Hank asked him if he wanted to play the drums. Johan liked the idea of becoming a new world famous drummer so they met and it was love at first sight. Southern Skyline started to write songs in the same tempo as Elton John used to snort coke and the next four months they had finished 35 songs. During that time they had some acoustic gigs but now they’re playing electric. And why is that?
Johan did the army service in the Swedish Army Band and there was also a guy called Alex. Johan and Alex had to live together - sharing room, shower, everything. When they realised that they actually enjoyed each others company they stayed in touch and when they finally settled down in the same town Johan asked him to join Southern Skyline on bassguitar.
All of them live in Stockholm, helping each other thru every day’s ups and downs, listening to and discovering a lot of good music, drinking a lot of beer, laughing and writing new songs every day. They have one goal; to make sure the whole world once again get to know about the long gone soul, spirit and music of the late sixties and the early seventies.
”You gotta go through it if you wanna get to it – cause you ain’t gonna find it no other way…”
