I really seem to enjoy doing things on my own..like bike riding, going to the movies...i'm crazy about film festivals...Cleveland International Film Festival is a must every year, but I cannot wait to check out other cities like San Francisco. I like going to the Phoenix Coffee in Lakewood & hangin out checkin out the poetry & music as well as just chillin by myself to journal & sketch. I'm trying to get back into drawing, that and poetry has been my biggest release right now. It really helps me deal with whats going on in my life & when i get it out on paper I actually feel better - it's a great release. I must have native american in my blood because I feel very drawn to their rituals & beliefs. I have been learning about shamanic practices and it's amazing.
Most the people that i would have liked to meet are long gone....but.. they "if only: then i would have to say Jim Morrison-bet he was a good kisser.... James Dean....oh not sure who else peeks my interest right now...
I love just about all types of music. Mostly womyn: But, i really enjoy alternative music. My girl gets me into so many different types of music cause it is such a big part of her life & i love that... I like big band music like Glen Miller to Beethovan's 5th. I am currently listening to the soundtrack to ShortBus. Incubus, ColdPlay & some older Natalie Merchant...then there are my local girls...lets see: HotChaCha rocks...those girls are so much fun to see live...Maura Rogers-ah i luv her....Early Girl-angelisa/laura/becky...Brittany Davidson...Mary Miller...Agent Ribbons from Sacramento...Erin Mckeown..
OH wow.....Rocky Horror has to be my all time favorite... then there is Hedwig & the Angry Inch, Meet Joe Black, Chicago, RENT, Love Actually, Nightmare Before Xmas (i love tim burton), Lord Of the Rings trilogy, Shakespeare In Love, then there is the 80's: Breakfast Club, St. Elmo's Fire, Sixteen Candles, Just One of The Guys, An Officer & a Gentleman, Rocky, Grease, Saturday Night Fever, Stayin Alive, Pretty in Pink, Star Wars(all of them- i was a star wars freak when i was a teenager) then the oldies but goodies: Rebel Without a Cause, Giant, The Wild One(Marlon Brando), Seven Year Itch, An Affair To Remember, The Graduate, you know Cary Grant, Gene Kelly, James Cagney, Danny Kay, John Wayne, miss Monroe- thanks to my mother I love them all...
well just about the only thing on tv anymore is reality crap (which i cannot stand but i end up on the couch by the fire with munchies watchin them with my friend Kovach) the only orignal reality show I liked was The Real World on MTV, but that is not even good anymore.. I do like Law & Order(b/c that chick is HOT ) Alias (again Jennifer Garner-YEAH !!!), of course The L-Word... but, the good stuff is not on anymore. what happened to the shows like: Laverne & Shirley, Good Times, Eight is Enough, Friends, Dynasty, Facts of Life, Too Close For Comfort, 3's Company, Love Boat, Charlies Angels (i guess i need to go back to the late 70's / 80's)
My all time favorite book is The Passion by Jeanette Winterson she also wrote: Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit, Sexing the Cherry & many more that are absolutely amazing. Within the last year my girl & I read ERAGON and loved it- we finished book 2-of the trilogy anxiously awaiting the final chapter(although the movie sucked-the books were really amazing considering christopher poulini was only 17 when her wrote the 1st book. I usually like to read lesbian fiction, but lately i have been getting into so many different things from the library from Buddhism to Tiebetin yoga. I also have been reading some work by Virginia Wolff - wow- the things she wrote in the early 1900's was so before her time with regards to feminism & womyn's rights. Right now i'm reading Eat/Pray/Love by Elizabeth Gilbert-just started so i will have to let you know how it is.
My mom for being a strong womyn raising a child on her own is not easy & she always makes it seem so easy...for that she is my hero. My grandmother too---she was a bundle of joy & a fiesty (zesty) Italian womyn at that...all that met her when she was here know exatly what I'm talkin about. Lastly my friend Lucille who i had the pleasure of meeting 6 years ago when she was 95years old.. now she just turned 100 and she is simply adorable & amazing, full of joy and great stories putting a smile on my face every time we sit down to a cup of coffee & cookies that she used to back herself still at 97.. She makes me see that life is precious & we should enjoy our time here & make the most of it-take chances, travel-see the world, stop to smell the flowers, walk on the beach & listen to the ocean, go to the desert & see what it has to say to you. Most of all love.... "Cause if you haven't loved then you haven't lived at all" (meet joe black)
