DJ Sugar started expressing his love for music in 1988 in roller rinks playing in front of friends and customers. Over the years, he kept a watchful eye on the DJ's he admired and learned from them. A few, teaching him the basics of what he became to love. In 1990, he played at the Park Ave. night club for several years until it was later renamed Scream. From then on, he played bi-monthly large-scale venues whose dance parties were all known at the time. These parties ranged from 1,500 up to 3,000 people. These events made Sugar widely known for his success in this industry. Night clubs were competing for his skills from both playing music and promotions. He also continued to become booked up with private parties and weddings. 1997 marked a change of pace at the Refectory, the most popular Sunday night party in Portland known as Sugar Sundays. By this time, Sweet Entertainment was born and operating in full swing. From then on, he became a resident DJ playing music 3 to 5 nights a week. His reputation became widespread for having the best parties with the greatest organized promotional strategies which were displayed at all his events. Wet Wednesdays at Who Song & Larry's was the first hot Wednesday event Portland had ever seen. Active Water Sports and many other sponcers were involved in this amazing event. 2001 started with Sweet Entertainment managing night clubs and restaurants such as Stephano's, an upscale venue with a reputation for it's celebrity sightings. The Greek Cuisina has had the pleasure of sweet Entertainment's DJs, promotions, and talent being a weekly occurence since the club opened and The Champagne Ball, one of the most successful large-upscale events of the year since 2004 to the present. Sweet Entertainment continues to run with the same style and elegance it always portrayed.
