ESPN's Monday Night Football will open with a doubleheader on Sept. 10, with the second game, Cardinals-49ers, kicking off at 10:15 p.m. Eastern. Today the Worldwide Leader has unveiled its announcing B team for the second game: Mike Greenberg on play-by-play and Mike Golic and Mike Ditka on commentary. Bonnie Bernstein will be the sideline reporter.
Greenberg and Golic work together on ESPN Radio's Mike and Mike in the Morning, and they've called Arena Football games together. It's a little surprising that ESPN is adding Ditka to the mix, but three-man booths are the norm on Monday Night Football.
The Monday Night Football A team consists of Mike Tirico, Ron Jaworski and Tony Kornheiser, with Jaworski replacing Joe Theismann from last year's team. Just wondering: Did ESPN offer Theismann the opportunity to fill in for one game?
