About Me

July: 2001. After a long instant message courtship, John Skinner (guitars) and Jeremy Swanson (vocals) snagged recently departed 'The Parallax View' drummer Jerrod Macpherson, and began to conceptualize what is now known as Saprogenic. Excited to have musical counterparts who actually had similar tastes in music and the ability to execute those ideas, Tim Recchia (bass) and Suat Kusefoglu (guitars) were quickly rounded up and brought into the fold. Less than a month later we played our debut set at the Detroit Contemporary to an enthusiastic crowd. Spurred by our early success we furiously continued (and continue to this day) to compose new material, initially culminating in our first demo, which was released in late '01. In September of '03 we released our first full length album entitled 'The Wet Sound of Flesh on Concrete' on Deepsend Records. After many great shows and fests supporting the album, Suat Kusefoglu decided to leave the band on good terms in February of '05 due to time constraints. Not long after that, we signed with Forever Underground Records. Our unflagging dedication to death metal will always be reflected in our music. We will continue to push ourselves to the limits of our physical abilities in order to pay respect to those that have come before us.
