james joyce's ulysses, robert anton wilson's Illuminatus trilogy and cosmic trigger series, malaclypse's principia discordia, jack kerouac's "on the road" (still need to read dharma bums), douglass adams hitchhikers series, nietzsche (no, I'm not a superman), george orwell 1984, ayn rand's fountainhead (have yet to read atlas shrugged), steven king and dean koontz are guilty pleasures, many many others fall into this latter category.
