This is the official site for Psypheria, created and managed by me .
Heretic Sound is officially sold out of the Psypheria's release, 'Embrace the Mutation.' Copies can be purchased via the Century Media distro (although it does say the item is not available at this time on the site). More than likely, eBay will have a copy available.
From 1992 to 2002 when they broke up, Psypheria was Northern Californias most brutal and innovative death metal band. Influenced by bands such as Morbid Angel and Immolation, as well as classical composers such as Bach and Liszt, Psypheria reated a truly revolutionary style of music. Their virtuoso playing ability coupled with extensive use of classical keyboards resulted in a dramatic sound that set them apart from most other bands.
Psypheria recorded four demos: Gears, Absence of Life, Gothic Disturbance and Plagues End. In 1996 they released a full length on Mad Lion Records titled Thy Flesh Consumed. In 2001, Psypheria signed with Heretic Sound, and they have released Embrace the Mutation, which contained their most technical and brutal material yet. In 2005 Hammermill Records will release Gothic Disturbance.
Some of the bands Psypheria performed with included Morbid Angel, Cannibal Corpse, Deicide, Nile, Malevolent Creation, Cradle of Filth, Testament, Immolation, Vader, Cryptopsy, Dying Fetus, Deeds of Flesh, and King Diamond.
The last incarnation of Psypheria consisted of John Oster, guitar; Mike Hurley, guitar; Adam Roberts, bass and vocals; Lyle Livingston, keyboards (also a member of Dragonlord); Cory Valdez, drums.
Critical Responses:
Psypheria proves that you can use keyboards not lose the brutality and devastating strength. Metalside
With the obvious move into the very technical oriented death metal sound, Psypheria brings something altogether different to their music, a musicianship quality that simply goes unmatched by any form of metal as they switch the vibe, tempo and rhythm almost effortlessly, never losing an ounce of brutality.
