No other course, no other way, no day but TODAY!

About Me

Welcome to my page. I'm 42, but a very young-at-heart 42. I have lived in Orlando, Florida for 14 years but am originally from Atlanta, Georgia. By day, I work in a very large convention hotel as the guest technology and quality assurance manager. By night... well, the sky's the limit. I have a lot of passions, and a lot of hobbies, far too numerous to list here, but what appeals to me the most is making friends and lasting relationships with people. I'm direct, I'm honest, some people have a hard time with that, but you always know where you stand with me. I like to say that "I say what everyone else is thinking." I hope you'll take the time to drop me a comment or an email and get to know me. It has been known to be both adventurous and amusing to do so.

My Interests

As I mentioned, I'm really into writing. I've written and published a book called BEHIND THE DOOR: SEARCHING FOR FAITH, LOVE, HOPE AND HAPPINESS. You can check it out under the authors section of www.instantpublisher.com. I'm on the verge of having my second book, ALTERNATE REALITY, published. It's something of a sequel to the first. I've written numerous short stories and poems. Some of my more recent poems appear in my blog, and under the screenname "alw2001" on www.poets.com. I also really enjoy participating in a group called SWEAT (Society of Workers in Early American Trades), which demonstrates 1840's lifestyles and crafts at local fairs and events here in Florida. There's something neat about "roughing it" in the true sense of the word-- this group is really and honestly factual in its representations, down to wooden buttons (that's a great story....). I'm a music fanatic, and my tastes run wild in this category, but I'll try to cover that in the music section.

I'd like to meet:

Someone once said that I was a great "collector of souls," and though I've never been certain of what that meant, I think it means that I truly love cultivating friendships and relationships. I haven't dated much in recent times, though I was married, a long, long time ago. These days, I tend to run in packs, and I surround myself with people I care about and who care about me, and that seems to fulfill me as a general rule. I'm a good person with a high sense of morality and ethics, but sometimes it's fun to look.... and imagine. To pique my curiosity, what matters most is intelligence, humor (very, very important as I'm as sarcastic as they come) and confidence. If you happen to be good looking, too, well... that'll work, too!

Music:

My musical tastes are eclectic, and range from the most stately of classical music, to the most modern rock. Of particular note, please check out Through You, a local Orlando band (www.myspace.com/throughyou) I would be honored if you would support them by checking out their pages and listening to their music. Thanks! Also, I've come to really dig another local band, Symphony in the Courtyard. Please check them out, too.

Books:

This is tough for me, because I like my own books the best. But I take a lot of pleasure in reading, I read two or three books a week, and they cover every genre of literature out there, and sometimes even in French. I tend to grativate towards mysteries and historical fiction, but I'm an avid science fiction fan as well. I'd never have time to really ponder what my all-time favorite book is, but I'd submit that Maurice Sendak's "Where the Wild Things Are" is right up at the top of the list. I find the Bible, as a piece of literature, one of the more important books in my collection; I prefer the NIV version, but that's a personal preference.

Heroes:

I could easily list many historical figures, like Martin Luther King, Jr., John F. Kennedy, Ronald Reagan, etc., but my true heroes are my friends, all of them. These are people who make a difference in my life every single day. Thank you, all of you, for being part of me, and part of my life.
