Professionally, I'm a unix and database geek at an educational robotics nonprofit. Right now, I'm mostly working on web applications, but its a small organization so I do all sorts of stuff. I just got back from a workshop in Houston where I helped a bunch of teachers learn about building Lego robots and programming in C. If I'm not careful, I'll find myself wielding a soldering iron and programming in assembley.
I just finished my first semester back in school after a long break, and I'm excited about being back in again. I'm taking Russian, and it's a lot of fun so far. In the "languages" section, below, I put that I speak Russian poorly, but really, I just aspire to speak Russian poorly. My Spanish is also mostly forgotten, at this point, as well.
I've been an on-again-off-again student for way too long and it's time I finished a degree. I'm working on a BA in Linguistics, which is what I finally settled on after degree hoping for a few years. It took me awhile to realize that I belonged in the humanities. Even with programming, the part I'm best at is the part that is applied social science.
I want to eventually get a Masters in Library and Information Studies, but I don't know whether I want to focus on literacy and English as a second language, stick with the tech side of things, or do something else entirely.
