Micro Credit for Macro Dreams

About Me

DiscoverHope Fund (DHF) is a 501(c)3 public benefit nonprofit seeking to lift women out of poverty by encouraging financial and spiritual abundance through microcredit and sustainable support systems. In essence, we want to contribute to the global effort to end poverty by giving small loans to some of the 3 billion people who live on less than $2 a day and are trapped in poverty so they cannot adequately feed, clothe, or shelter themselves or their families.Truly, it’s amazing to see how hope creates optimism and dignity for those who have no access to capital. With small loans of $50-75 dollars paid back over 4-6 month periods, we work with our beneficiaries to initiate and grow their small businesses. We watch them use their cultural traditions and skills to guide their investments—whether it is selling grains in the local markets, cooking peanuts on the streets, or weaving clothing—these women give their utmost to protect and grow their business as they know it means survival and well-being for their families. The value of microcredit is that as women pay their loans back and learn to save for their families, money is returned for further loans and a framework is created for these women to actively participate in their own economic advancement, personal empowerment, and life transformation. The long-term sustainable changes we hope to make are highlighted by trainings we develop that are designed directly from the desires and needs voiced by the beneficiaries. Examples of some of the capacity lessons include the following: basic business principles, money management, technology, health and well-being, communication, family, self-esteem and self-confidence, and compassionate living principles. We believe that credit accompanied by education can truly help to lift beneficiaries out of poverty. Get this FREE MySpace layout and more at MySpaceOrYours.net

A night of music to benefit Discover Hope FundCome enjoy the music and contribute to the global effort to end poverty for some of the 3 billion people who live on less than $2 a day and are trapped in poverty so they cannot adequately feed, clothe, or shelter themselves or their families. DiscoverHope Fund (DHF) is a 501(c)3 public benefit nonprofit seeking to lift women out of poverty by encouraging financial and spiritual abundance through microcredit and sustainable support systems. We provide access to microcredit and education to help to lift beneficiaries out of poverty. Proceeds from ticket sales will go toward our work to create a new consciousness of prosperity that women can pass onto their children, families, communities, society, and this world. Come be part of the change, visit us at www.discoverhopefund.org!Headlining the event will be the John Cowan Band. After making a name for himself as one of the most in-demand vocalists in the early 1970s music scene, Cowan rose to fame when he became the lead singer for New Grass Revival. He and bandmates, Sam Bush, Bela Fleck and Pat Flynn introduced a new generation of music fans to an explosive, experimental brand of bluegrass. His current band is taking him back to his natural, organic and acoustic roots. For information about the event, contact Bridget Pleines, Event Coordinator at [email protected]

How can $10 make a difference? DiscoverHope Fund currently has around 2000 friends. If every one of our friends donated just $10, the cost of a couple lunches, we would raise $20,000 towards our campaign. How many lives can be change with $20,000? The average DiscoverHope Fund Microcredit loan is only $100, so the lives of 200 women and their families can be changed. That $100 loan goes to fund a woman's business to help her and her family raise THEMSELVES out of poverty. That $100 loan is accompanied by EDUCATION to further their abundance. That education is accompanied by COMMUNITY, starting a community bank to fund other families dreams. So how can $10 make a difference? As you can see, $10 can change the world.DONATE NOW at www.discoverhopefund.org and show your support and change a life. Do you believe in what we are trying to do? Whether you feel moved or have the ability to donate or not, we appreciate your support. Add us to your top friends so others can be a part of the revolution too! That is a pretty easy way to make a difference. Knowledge is power. If you are in a band, join our campaign and donate a percentage of one nights show to DHF.
