Trent "The Sandman" Standing

Hi'ya I am Trent Standing, 6'3" 290lbs. I am a veteran of the Full Contact Fighting Federation, Sportfight, Ultimate Cage Fighting, Desertbrawl, Battle of the Boarders, Ultimate Cage Wars and Kickdown in Denver, CO.
I am the DesertBrawl Heavyweight Champion, DesertBrawls Superheavyweight Champion, Denver Colorados Kickdown Heavyweight Champion, FCFF Superfight Champion, FCFF Heavyweight Champion and UCW's Heavyweight Champion.
A little about myself; I started training in 2002 at Team Quest with Randy Coture, Matt Lindland, Dan Henderson, Evan Tanner, Chris Leben, Nate Quarry, and a few other pros... talk about a crazy ass learning curve with those guys?
After training off and on and getting married and divorced I decided to take this fighting thing seriously. About that time I got in a car accident and broke two bones in my back and smashed two disks. They went in and fixed my disks ..h 2004.
From that back surgery I developed a blood infection that ate away parts of my heart. I had the choice of getting a mechanical heart flap that would last me 40 years, but I wouldnt be able to fight, or a pig heart where I would be able to fight but it would wear out and cut my life short (10-15yrs). It was never even an choice, I couldnt stand living without fighting.
I was hospitalized from Jan to March and had open heart surgery on March 4 2005 that replaced my main pusher valve in my heart with a pig heart (its ok, you can laugh, its kinda funny,, I have probably heard your joke about 'did you at least get a side of bacon with it' or whatever it is, but I would still like to hear it again :). I got out of the hospital in April and still had to have a PICC line (an IV that ran to my heart) in till about mid April. Once they unhooked me from all the machines April 15th 2005 I started making plans to fight again!

Every day I pushed myself. The surgeon would tell me to walk one house down and come back once a day,, I would walk a block and back three times a day. The surgeon would tell me to do a wall pushup once a day,, I would do them every time I was on my feet (it took me until July before I could do ONE normal pushup!). I was starting over from scratch, I had no cardio, no lungs, and no muscle left on my body after sitting in a hospital bed for 4 months. I knew I had a long road ahead of me.
I ran into trouble getting my first fight back with the Full Contact Fighting Federation due to my heart surgery... They were a bit nervous to say the least about letting me fight again. DesertBrawl and JT Taylor gave me my chance to fight again. I took a fight for the DesertBrawl Heavyweight Championship vs Chad 'The Freight Train' Hickle on July 23rd 2005. I won that fight in the 3rd round. He gave me a three round beatdown but I owed it to myself to not give up and ended up winning with a choke.
So since this time I have gone PRO! Feels GOOD to get paid for being punched LOL..
I have just recently (as of mid-november) started my own fight team with Christopher Standing (my brother and cornerman since 2001). Our fight team is TEAM SAGA (Striking And Grappling Academy)-- look for us in the FCFF and DesertBrawl soon!. Hands up Chin down Trent 'The Sandman' Standing
