Formally of 90's British underground HipHop group; CENTRALZONE, Redd was a key member along with Case Logic, E.N.T and Boost. 1991 saw the release of the white label; "Underground/Hook It" 12" under Gangster records which found it's way into the hands of Tim Westwood of then Capital Radio and Dave Pearce of Kiss FM. But the crew later broke away from the label due to lack of advertising and promotion. CZ did it all themselves, studio time, arranging gigs with their various contacts in the industry and basically selling their music on the streets. Unfruitful liaising with the majors saw the groups ideas virtually stolen by other artists and showed how exploitive the industry can be. But unknowingly to the majors, CENTRALZONE ended up contributing to British rap as a whole. 1992 saw the critically acclaimed demo; "Opinionated Opinions/Exercisin'The Lyric" produced at the South West Syndicate studio in Tooting Bec with DJ Sparki (well known partner of MC Mello) on the dials. Other DJs like Mark Anderson and DJ 279 along with Westwood, Chris Nat and Dave Pearce gave regular shoutouts to the group. I can't forget you pirate DJs who gave us a shout out to, much appreciated (Steve, shame you got raided!). After magazine reviews and more gigs (most notibly at Muthaland at the Borderline Club where Vie Marshall bigged up the crew's open mic session as "British talent, definitely!" After 6 years together in the music scene, CZ decided to go their own seperate ways.
