How to make your own Bass Guitar:
One day I figured out, it can't be so hard to make a guitar of your own. I had this luck having one of the best luthiers - Jacek Kobylski from Nexus Guitars living in my hometown Szczecin, so I watched him sometimes at work. I read a lot about wood - all types and specifications. Than I made some drawings (without having enough knowledge I just copied one of my basses), found a fine piece of mahogany at grandpa's backyard for the body an bought a piece of ash for the neck. Some help of a carpenter... and there it was - my first half-selfmade 4 String Fretless Bass. It wasn't bad at all (for the first instrument), I even sold it a few months later (without taking a picture of it:/ ). With each instrument, and more confidence I began to do some wood experiments - just to see how it will sound.
One day (probably one of the best things that happened to me in my life) I meet a carpenter - Waldemar Filek. He took me under his wings and showed me how to use all the heavy machines, told me all what is important while working with wood and was all the time by my side while I was creating my FIRST SELFMADE BASS. It was a 6-string fretted monster:) All my Insruments made ever since were made at his workshop.
The slideshow below shows one of my latest works - Fretless Croatone Bass (body made of 13 pieces of all kinds of wood - maple, padouk, zebra, mahogany, meranti).
And that's it, this is my short story of me and my instruments. I don't keep my knowledge just for me so if you got any questions on this materia , write me and maybe I can help you to fix your instrument or even build one giving some advices.
...and last but not least:
Thanks Mom!!!
