Influences: I have many influences in hip hop that have gotten and kept me interested in the culture. As far as artist that influence me there are many; but to name a few at the top of the list you know the reoccurring names: Jay-Z, Twista, Cassidy, Bone Thugs ‘n’ Harmony, 2 Pac, B.I.G., ODB, LL Cool J, Crucial Conflict, Timbaland, Joe Budden, Beanie Sigel, Cam’ron, Jr Writer, Juelz, Kanye West, Luda, DMX, Eminem, D-Block, Busta, Lil’ Wayne, Llyod Banks, 36 Mafia, Usher, R. Kelly, Lyfe Jennings, Musiq Soulchild, and much more but I’m getting tired of typin’ names. Also, another influence honestly is Young Static and that nigga Q Storm (check ‘em out on myspace). Most niggas might not name a name that’s not main stream, but I’m honest. And being around my nigga Donnie hearin’ all the music that 3rd Millennium Records was pushin’ out was fuckin’ motivation. Them boys is serious. Also, I have always been around music since a child. Unfortunately, I didn’t have access to the tools to pursue that avenue. So I was just a fan with a good ear. After freestyling with friends and a bunch of compliments and cheering me on…THAT became my prominent influence to actually record music. That’s right, I love music, but I’m really doing it for the people. Otherwise it’d just be a freestyle in my head. But I had too many people suggesting I should hop in the booth. Now honestly I think I’m a’ight… If I ever say I’m the best in a flow(which I don’t think I will) it’s just me runnin’ my mouf.
I know there are hundreds of thousands of people out there that can rap, sing, or whatever but the difference are those who are about average and actually DO IT. I know people who are COLD they just don’t do shit with there lives. My attitude is as long as people fuck wit my music and keep askin’ I’ll keep making it. I have the most fun critiquing and helping others, I’d rather be the guy behind the scenes, helping it sound right. I’ve done some “ghost writing†and consulting with others and other types of music. But it’s all fun and entertainment and that’s why I’m here. You won’t really catch me talking anything I don’t believe in or am tired of hearing. I’m not a big “shoot ‘em up†rapper, I don’t really like guns (but I might keep a few), I think they just give pussies power. So I don’t really support talking crazy about them and desensitizing murder & shit. Yeah, it’s fun to talk about sometimes and to vent sometimes, so if I ever contradict myself WHICH I PROBABLY WILL!!! Just remember music is a art and it’s an expression, so what I make all depends on how I’m feeling at that moment. How'd I get started?
Well, I never really rapped on a mic or in front of people until recently. We were at a birthday party were Dj Reeg from Trackciti brought some equipment and they put on a show at the party. A BIG party!! At some point I was off somewhere being me, when somebody said “Hey Mike, they’re calling you.†“Huh?†I replied. Then I listened and I heard the whole crowd chanting my name… I have NEVER been in this situation. So I go see what’s going down and it’s a battle; and they want me to rap...
Should I tell them I never picked up a microphone before (in front of people), or that I’m not a battle rapper and I never ever battled anybody before, they just knew me from getting fucked up and freestylin’ with whoever was around…
Naaaaa, that’s none of their business. And the peer pressure was too strong; I had no choice! Well, it’s battle time and I’ve talked my way out of going 1st. So I can sit back and observe before I go. To make a long story short I RAN THROUGH 4 PEOPLE IN A ROW!! Shocked with myself that I still had shit to say, and haven’t lost yet. Then one more guy…the local rapper said I wasn’t shit and he could eat me up. And walked through the crowd like the real champ in the crowd to snatch the mic and the crown. I’m thinkin’ “FUCK…why he gotta fuck up my lil’ streak and try and embarrass me in front of all these people, especially the bitches…†Well at the end of the night he got to take a picture with the champ. ;-) LOL
After that; I got more and more request to get in the booth. Well, my girlfirend’s best friend had a boyfriend who rapped, and after kickin’ it a few times he asked me to come down and record with him…So we did and it turned into me managing him In just two months, we started a branch off of another emerging label at the time, built a respectable fan base, started getting a lot of attention thanks to myspace, even got crazy collab opportunities, like the greatest one that went to was a collab with Robin Thicke when he had “Lost without you†bangin’ on the charts, why because people fucked with what we was talkin’ about.
Well I’ll tell you the details of how it was revealed that the person I chose to do business with was the wrong person. All those stories you hear of a person being a snake, a bitch, a back stabber, a liar, a pussy, a leech, a fake, and everything you can think of…I found all those people in one! Well we fell out and I decided it was best to just leave the music game alone. I mean, guys like that were one of the reasons I never got involved in the first place, I knew what I was getting into with the music world. I just thought I could correct a problem person…wasn’t worth it. So I left the music scene, it was either that or back to dealing with the courts. Cuz he was provoking me to do something to him. I had to pray on it and walk away. God bless him and the next person to take me there. All that counseling wasn’t for nothing, I intervened. I had to talk myself out of doing something stupid.
I avoided the bullshit, to avoid lawyer fees and a guilty conscience (smell me?). And after time passed I was getting approached more and decided to start recording again…so I’m back for the 1st and a half time. I have a great sense of humor and an extensive understanding of human behaviors, so I understand stupid people…All of you….
Sounds Like: I had to take a moment for this section, why? Because it says “Sounds Like…†and I just want to acknowledge that my sound may alter depending on my mood and personality at the time. I’ve heard I sound like a lot of different people. Well my voice is an instrument and I will use different ranges, tones, and tempos…NO I am not copying a particular artist, it’s like fighting, I may box, kick, wrestle, or whatever…If I’m not going to box a boxer, I’m going to take him to the ground; just as I would box a wrestler…point is, you gotta switch it up to stay fresh…So I don’t think I’ve developed a specific style yet, I just have fun and do me. So I apologize if someone thinks I sound like them or use there style…so sorry to all the Little Richard out there that think they invented everything and only they will do or say something a certain way…wake up!
On that note tell me what you like or don’t like about me and I’ll do the people like most…
Check out my mans Minnesota Fats & support what he tryna do! I'm proud to see him gettin some results! ;-) Stay in Hustle Mode boi!
