MINDFOLD ARE DEAD
To make a short story even shorter; We'd like to thank you for all the love and support you've given us through the years. We're calling it quits since Mindfold is not Mindfold anymore, which is simply just a matter of growing up and developing ourselves in our own strange ways.If you're interested; Remco and Bas are currently working on a new project together with Jos Roosen (on drums) recording fresh new music. It will reach you when its ready.
Yuri is moving to Denmark very soon taking new opportunities and living his life together with his love. New music will follow as soon as he is settled there, so stay tuned for that as well.
A big thank you to Remco Essers, Guido Penders, Joost Peeters and Armand L'Espoir, you've made it all worthwhile. To everyone else, you know who you are and we're extremely happy to have met you somewhere down the road. You are a part of our memories which will always last in our hearts.
Note: there are still some Long Roads copies and shirts left, if you'd like to have one then send us a mail to [email protected] and get it cheap. A goodbye show in our hometown is a possibility, we'll let you know if and when it happens.
Goodbye, Mindfold
THE LAST BIOGRAPHY
'Long Roads' (Squash Records/Sonic Rendezvous), the long awaited debut album of Mindfold is out now!'The new big promise' (Rocktribune), 'Jesus, what a lovely violence' (Music Maker), and 'Probably not long without a record deal' (UP Magazine); all raving reviews of the 'Under Your Skin' EP that gave the best introduction a band could ask for. Now they have already played the mainstage of the internationally renowned Pinkpop Festival (NL) last year and their debut album has been released worldwide...will they have their big breakthrough this year?
Dutch music magazine Oor labels the new record as a 'remarkable debut that puts Mindfold on the map. Holland's own Dredg has arrived.' The online magazine Musicfrom.NL honors the band for their 'contagious melody hooks, ecstatic guitarriffs, raw power and atmospheric moments. The band also uses acoustic guitars in several songs combining them with strong melodies that nestle quickly in your head; they could easily enrich the top charts.'
Influenced by American bands such as Chevelle, Far, Dredg and Strata there is only one thing important to Mindfold, and that is, according to the bands guitarist, Remco Eijssen, 'To make a statement with your own music - your performance in that venue, or your CD in that stereo! To involve and respect the listeners, and to keep that passion at the highest possible level. That matters to us.' And so far, it's working, judging by the growing amount of fans in the venues and on the internet.
A lot has happened these last two years in Mindfold history. Thats what the album title 'Long Roads' refers to. On one hand the great loss of loved ones in their lives and on the other hand the energy and passion that arises when four best friends join forces, like in the title track: 'Is this the end of the town we used to love? Is this the beginning of a new bright city?'
The dedication of Mindfold pays off. Like for instance many successful shows in famous Dutch venues such as Paradiso, Melkweg, 013, Nighttown, VPRO Club3voor12 and Vera. They have also been a triumphant support act for many well-known bands, for example: Dredg (USA), Walls Of Jericho (USA), Face Tomorrow (NL), Intwine (NL), Dreadlock Pussy (NL) and The Appleseed Cast (USA).
Other facts: Local Hero Status in LiveXS magazine, a spot at the prestigious Eurosonic/Noorderslag festival and the winner of 'Nu of Nooit', THE band contest of Limburg!
Remco explains, 'Mindfold started out a few years ago, and originated from four best friends with one passion. Everyone gives 110% in every way - less is not an option. The band quickly grew into a well oiled machine, live and on CD!'
This reputation was again immediately confirmed with a short succesful UK tour in february. Furthermore Mindfold is part of the Converse Choose Your Weapon tour and will be touring together with Jonah Matranga (former singer of Far, Onelinedrawing and Gratitude) as support and solo-band in several German and Dutch clubs this May.
