About Me

Ferrari, whose given birth name is Randy Ferrari DeShawn Brown, was born in Chicago, Illinois on May 4th, 1984. Growing up in and out of poverty, Ferrari quickly learned the difference of the mind sets between poor and middle class people. Although an athlete throughout his scholastic matriculation, Ferrari also had an artistic side loving to mimic characters and write songs and poems. After attending Clark Atlanta University for a year he decided to not return and pursue his real dream which was to be an actor. During this time Ferrari found out that his mother wanted his first name to be Ferrari, but another family member convinced her not too. He promptly decided to go by what his mother wanted to name him, refusing to answer to Randy anymore. Leaving Atlanta was the only thing that could fully indulge him in something such as acting so he moved to New York. Ferrari was received well in New York as he acted in Charles Fullers A Soldiers Play and Zooman and the Sign among other plays, and eventually scoring a lead in his first film Now. He was also a peer educator for Hospital Audiences Inc., going to different schools, detention centers, and even Rikers Island Prison, to promote violence prevention, HIV awareness, and prevention of substance abuse. He participated in The Leadership After School Program as well, bringing artistry and sports to children who would otherwise be running the streets. The buzz about Ferrari began to brew in the acting community and he was offered a scholarship to The LAByrinth Theater Master Class among the likes of the 2006 Oscar Winner for Best Actor and LAByrinth Theater Member, Phillip Seymour Hoffman. After finishing acting classes with The Labyrinth Theatre Company he decided to come back to CAU and truly study Theater Arts and Film/Television. His ultimate goal is to become an established and popular actor so that he can be an effective activist to urban communities and be accepted by the youths of today. Ferrari has vowed that the hip-hop culture will not be used in vain to promote Anti-Intellectualism among African-Americans.
