historicist bard of the 1380's

About Me

From the soft whipped rocks and snake oil beaches of a Tiverton long forgotten, I coughed myself to solidity and on the shores of adolesence polished sea stones to slam poems, eventually joining the Providence team to compete in Seattle at the 2001 National Poetry Slam. The ropes of the slam career were cut short by the double edged sword of an English Degree and a two year contract to teach English in Japan. There on a pine topped mountain in a sea of rice fields, days were spent learning the intricacies of Japanese village culture, the challenges of teaching in a foreign language, and attempting deep communication with students and colleagues through music, slapstick, and charades, Sharpening skills of improvisation and performance through classroom management, the long quiet winters froze the speed of time, tempering slam sensibilities with the discipline of classical guitar. Now, back in the thirteen colonies, blazing double fisted with humility and zeal, with an opportunity for adventure and a quest to accelerate the evolution of consciousness. standing on a cliff with the lost chip off the rosetta stone, a forked tongue to translate two musical dialects at once, witnessing the transformation from slam poet to neo-baroque bard.
