Atipa quartet

Atipa, jeune quartet montpelliérain, réuni jazz traditionnel et sonorités modernes avec succès. Début 2006 les quatre musiciens se produisent à Montpellier seulement un mois après leur première rencontre, l’osmose est au rendez vous… Les concerts s’enchaînent et le groupe délivre une musique en constante évolution, résultat d’un travail méticuleux. Résolument jazz, ce groupe aux influences très variées, puise son inspiration dans les musiques de Charles Mingus, John Coltrane ou encore Wayne Shorter sans toutefois s’imposer de barrières. La forte personnalité du quartet s’exprime notamment à travers des compositions, reflet d’une cohésion certaine, mais aussi dans l’interprétation originale des standards de jazz. Sur scène le groupe se caractérise par son énergie communicative, et une remarquable capacité des musiciens à s’écouter et se servir les uns les autres. Atipa se produit régulièrement à Montpellier, ses alentours, et anime un jazz-club à Sète. Premier lauréat du tremplin jazz du festival Mirondel’arts 2006, le jeune groupe, lié par son amour pour la musique, n’a pas fini de vous surprendre. The recently formed quartet “Atipa”, from Montpellier, southern France, successfully gathers traditional jazz and modern sounds. In early 2006, one month only after they first meet, the four musicians start to play together on stage… it works. The concerts flow and the band plays a constantly evolving music as the result of a meticulous work. In spite of its will to open its musical influences, Atipa quartet mainly finds its inspiration in the works of artists such as Charles Mingus, John Coltrane, Wayne Shorter, etc… The strong personality of the quartet expresses itself through its compositions, reflecting the definite cohesion of the band, as well as in original reviews of jazz standards. On stage, Atipa quartet is known for its infectious energy and the musicians’ remarkable capacity to listen and work with each other. Atipa regularly plays in Montpellier and its surroundings, and is a house band for open jazz sessions in Sète. In 2006, they were the prize-winner of the Mirondel’arts festival.
