About Me

MyGen Profile Generator“EgoFreQs Productions melds New Talent, Innovative and Stylish Production and the Latest Technology to set the world music scene on its side.”
Veteran DJ, Daniel Pinks, decided that he was tired of the same old music scene. Together with Alex Wright, audiophile extraordinaire and technology guru, egoFreQs Production ( www.egoFreQs.com ) is born. Pronounced "ego freaks", egoFreQs follows a similar path as Masters At Work and C+C Music Factory. Daniel and Alex knew it was time for the music scene at large to change. Daniel with his keen ear and music sense along with Alex’s technological know how and musical prowess, form a creative musical duo. Their intent is to form an entertainment empire in Miami, FL under the auspices of music production and remixing through egoFreQs Productions. EgoFreQs Productions melds new talent, innovative and stylish production and the latest technology to the set the world music scene on its side. Alex says, “Our intent is to be daring and innovative. We want to introduce the world to something different.” “I want the world to enjoy good music,” adds Daniel. “I have a passion that burns stronger than any flame and I want to share it. With Alex’s Help, I know it is possible.” This new dynamic duo has more than 50 years of musical talent between them. Look for fresh new beats, orgasmic rhythms and new sound to captivate your soul.
Daniel Pinks started DJing in 1978 in the Bronx, NY. Along with other pioneers of the day, the street music scene was hot and alive with what is now called, hip-hop and rap music. After college and years of considerable growth, he became DJ MellowD. In 1991, he formed his own music production company, MellowD Productions which he instantly branded, “Serious music for serious people.” He started a tape of the month club with about 50 subscribers, individuals and businesses. That was not enough. He went into branding with restaurants and other establishments. In a way, he pioneered the way for store music branding. He started with a few restaurants in the Chelsea neighborhood of New York. His clients included Chelsea Gym, Cola’s, Blue Moon Mexican Café and Stingray on Eighth Avenue to name a few. He created for them what he called “Mood Music.” He felt restaurants have an identity associated with the atmosphere as well as the food. Daniel says, “When you walk into a business, you already know what you expect to get from it. Be it good food, great fashion or service, I felt that the music should be just as much a part of the identity as any of those other things.” He may not believe he is a pioneer but he paved the way for The Banana Republics and Starbucks of the world to sell branded music products as he did at the Chelsea Gym from 1990-1995. He included their logo on what he called “work out” tapes. The gym played his music as part of their atmosphere and sold his tapes as their product. He then branched out and created the same with a Club in the Dominican Republic called Cheers Studio. His reputation gained him access to the Israeli music scene with a series of Techno tapes marketed to the youth. He moved to Miami in 1995 leaving his tape of the month business and numerous restaurant clients behind for the beautiful sunshine of South Florida. He brings his passion and ever-adventurous spirit to Miami. Under his new moniker of DraghonDJ ( www.DraghonDJ.com ) and Beasby Productions, he has played at the Winter Music Conference, which happens in Miami Beach each year. He plans to excite the world through egoFreQs Productions.
Alex Wright grew up in Maryland. Surrounded by the hot and ever dynamic music scene of Washington D.C., he got his appetite wet. Needing more than Maryland could give him, he relocated to Los Angeles where he quickly became acquainted with the movers and the shakers on the West coast. Making some influential musical friends, he was on his way to learning what music had to offer him. Unfortunately, the timing was not right (no pun intended) and he found himself working in color, graphics and imaging. He was still not satisfied with what Los Angeles had to offer and he moved to Miami in 1991. He came with nothing except the head on his shoulders. He instantly began making his mark on the technology world. He started working with color systems learning the ins and outs of the printing and imaging world. Once he mastered the realm of visuals, he knew he needed something more. Therefore, he started his own graphics design business with a friend. He took on small jobs with big aspirations. Using his connections and resources, he made such an impact that he was recruited by Trinidad Designer Randall Tucker to help with his efforts here in Miami during Miami Carnival. His business did well but the partnership did not survive causing the him to close his business and return to the corporate world. As successful as he was, this was still not enough. “My life had grown as much as it could in the confines of the visual world,” Alex admits. “I saw the need to conquer the audio world. I have always been a connoisseur of fine music. I have several friends in the industry and have always had my hand in it. Only now I had to have my whole being in the music.” Likening himself to Warner Brothers Wile E. Coyote - Genius, he reinvented himself as DJ Wile E ( www.DJWileE.com ) - musical genius. He applies his technological genius to the art of the music studio and saw his future self. Living all over the country, Alex exposed himself to all kinds of American music. Well traveled, he relishes the musical diversity his travel afforded him. Take his no nonsense attitude with his wealth of musical experience and open the gates. The world will know something great.
The two met in Trinidad in 1991 while enjoying Carnival. It was instant fire amidst the calypso and soca music. It was musical kismet. The two have been friends ever since. They decided to team their talents and do something wonderful. “This is the next logical step in my musical evolution,” says Daniel. “I started out as a DJ. Became an entrepreneur of the senses as it were, creating music for others. Previously, I worked with music created by others but I have always wanted to produce my own music. Now, I have that chance.” “I have always loved music,” admits Alex. “Technology has always been my friend and ally. Then I thought wow, technology and music. It sounds like a great combination. If I can make a living doing the things I love, I can be eternally happy.”
“Stop, Look and Listen,” said the Stylistics. Well, this dynamic duo and the egoFreQs Productions will give you cause to do all three.

Influences: We have many influences like Masters at Work, Larry Levan (RIP), David DePino, Sharon White (I miss you... where are you?), Gail "Sky" King, "Little" Louie Vega, Frankie Knuckles, Armand van Helden, Club 69, Grandmaster Flash, David Cole (RIP - I miss you), Deep Dish, Prince, Parliament, Kate Bush, DJ CAM, Cameo, Nile Rodgers, Bernard Edwards, ... so many more. We'll get back to this.

Who we love... everyone we've remixed, of course. lol. With that said, we're fans of the current hot misunderstood and under-represented divas such as La Veda, Esthero, Mutya and Siobhan Donaghy. Much luv ladies and we wish you much success. The reverant and ever-talented Karsh Kale and Nitin Sawhney, both who we hope to work with someday.

Outside of our few favorites, we do enjoy all genres of music and we have worked with different groups, bands and artists. Also, we have remixed a few artists who don't know we exist because we love them. We luv the lounge movement with such phenomenal talent such as Thievery Corporation, De-Phazz, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Masters at Work, and all the hot music coming out of London.

Wish we could get more of our music up but that's cool. We love ethnic music and create all different flows. Soon enough you'll hear our range and the breadth of talent we work with. For now, we put up a few tracks to show our hand somewhat like Nelly Furtado and Esthero, major artists who we have followed since day 1 and own all of their recordings, and unknown talent like Hassan Souto, a talented brother out of Boston now resinding in NY. Right now, we're working with La Veda to produce remixes for her upcoming singles, Only Love and Do Something, and a few tracks on her upcoming CD release. We're lucky enough to have our work along side The Undah-Dub and Kimani Wilson. Be on the look out. If the mix says FQ, show your respect. LOL.
Sounds Like: good music
