My boyfriend Paul, our cats and our home. I have a special place in my heart for horror movies -- with a special penchant for lesbian vampires, giant monsters and zombies. World cinema, with a special place for Japanese and French filmmakers. Films by Ozu, Renoir, Satyajit Ray, Lubitsch, Bresson, Bunuel, Fellini, Altman and Lynch are among my favorites. I love music; especially dance music: 70s disco, Kylie, Kristine W., Billie Ray Martin, trance, etc.; and any song that has hand claps or a big "whoooo!" right in the middle of it. I have nothing but love for Nina Simone, Ella Fitzgerald, Annie Lennox, Blossom Dearie, kd lang, & the fabulous cocktail lounge band Pink Martini. I also like naps in the afternoon, European painting and sculpture -- especially in the years 1880-1940, the history of the Holocaust, Japanese TV superheroes of the 1960s-70s, and the two greatest TV shows EVER: The Sopranos, & (the new) Battlestar Galactica. I love smart abrasive funny women - like Sandra Bernhard, Rosie O'Donnell, Kathy Griffin & Jamie White. I love animal rights advocates, dinosaurs, and rainy weather (don't know what any of those have to do with each other, but there you go.) I have big love for Julia Sweeney -- whose one-woman shows are eloquent, funny, enlightening, and might change your life; Johnny Cash -- whose voice never fails to make me cry, cry, cry; and Mia Farrow, whom I love as an actress & her incredible autobiography, and who is now doing great work educating people about the genocide in Darfur. Finally, I'd like to see human beings treat the world's other living creatures with respect and love. (Of course, it would be good to treat the world around us, and the rest of the human race with love and respect as well.)
...Or wish I could have met: Johnny Cash; Oprah Winfrey; Terry Gross; Mia Farrow; Meryl Streep; Yasujiro Ozu; Julia Sweeney; Orson Welles; Ella Fitzgerald; Francois Truffaut; Jean Renoir; Kylie Minogue; Errol Morris; Frederick Wiseman; Edward Gorey; Wong Kar-Wai; Blossom Dearie; Maggie Cheung; Quentin Tarantino; Robbie Williams; Sandra Bernhard; George Clooney; David Cronenberg; Satyajit Ray; David Lynch; Bob Dylan; Luis Bunuel; Alice Sebold, Alain Delon, Catherine Deneuve, etc.Nick Cave - Death is not the end

In my life: Paul LaVoie, Ned Rodriguez, Mary Grant, Marc Beart, Steve Katz, Jeff Anderson...Also: Anyone who takes a stand for something they believe, especially when the cards are stacked against them. Anyone who overcomes adversity. Anyone who survived rape, molestation, prejudice, oppression, or any other injustice. People who care for those who can't care for themselves. People who go against the grain of society and follow their own dreams, rather than what society dictates. People who inspire, teach, and enable other people to make good choices. ....those are the real heroes.
