FSI is a studio-driven trio that has been making their own unique brand of music for the past 20 years. Formed by a diverse and eclectic group of three best friends who met making movies at a famous Los Angeles film school, FSI has been dubbed as "The 21st Century Pink Floyd," although their blend of "Cinematic Art Rock" has as much in common with acts like Radiohead, Roxy Music, My Chemical Romance and Queen as it does with The Killers, Talking Heads, Mercury Rev, Led Zeppelin, The Cars and experimental-era Beatles.
In commemoration of their 20th Year Anniversary, FSI will be releasing a brand new CD, coinciding with their first MySpace profile page. The compilation will contain both a career-spanning retrosoective, with new recordings of long-time fan favorites (including previously-unreleased remakes from the many films that FSI songs have graced), as well as a disc of brand new material to mark the mysterioso studio maestros' third decade of working together on numerous FSI-produced projects - and to celebrate 20 years of playing music together as the original, unchanged line-up that comprises their original namesake band, FSI.
Although they are frequently joined by special guest artists on various individual songs, FSI are noted for the "wide-screen" scope of their music - defying easy generic categorization - and for the fact that all of their works remain the creation of three core musicians, entertainers and best friends - who have continued their remarkable collaboration on the FSI "experience" well into the next millennium...
WE'VE ADDED A FIFTH SONG TO THE JUKEBOX... SINCE THE FOUR SONGS THAT WERE POSTED WERE ALL RECORDED AFTER THE YEAR 2000 - AND THIS BEING DESIGNED AS AN FSI 20TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATORY MYSPACE SITE - WE WANTED TO POST ONE OF THE SONGS THAT ORIGINALLY DEFINED FSI's SIGNATURE SOUND.
"P.M.R.C." WAS WRITTEN & RECORDED IN 1990 (WHILE THE BAND WAS STILL ATTENDING USC's CINEMA SCHOOL) IN DIRECT RESPONSE TO TIPPER GORE'S RESPONSE TO PRINCE'S "DARLING NIKKI" AND BODY COUNT'S "COP KILLER." ONLY IN THE FSI STAPLE, SUNG AS A HAUNTING LULLABYE, THE "P.M.R.C." ARE "PEOPLE MURDERING RISQUE CHILDREN" (OF THE ARTISTIC VARIETY, OBVIOUSLY.)
"P.M.R.C." WAS THE SECOND FSI SONG TO BE RECORDED AT THE LEGENDARY PARAMOUNT STUDIOS, THE HOLLYWOOD RECORDING VENUE THAT HAS PLAYED HOST TO THE CREATION OF CLASSICS BY LED ZEPPELIN, PRINCE, ROXY MUSIC & ICE CUBE, TO NAME BUT A FEW.
AS WITH ALL FSI TRACKS, "P.M.R.C." WAS PRODUCED BY THE THREE BAND MEMBERS IN FSI, BUT WAS ENGINEERED BY STUDIO WIZ GEZA X (of DEAD KENNEDYS, MEREDITH BROOKS' "BITCH" and - most recently - GEZA X & THE MOMMYMEN fame), WHO DECLARED THE SONG "HIGHLY UNIQUE" AND ASKED TO KEEP A PRE-RELEASE COPY FOR HIMSELF...
