Music:

My music tends to skew older and it's getting even older. Put it this way, I now share the same CDs as 60 year olds. Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, Rolling Stones, U2 and Pearl Jam. I've actually started to listen to some Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin, but only when I'm trying to feel cool, man.

Movies:

Old School, Dumb and Dumber, Godfather, Me, Myself, and Irene; Liar, Liar; Seabiscuit, The Natural, Usual Suspects.

Television:

Seinfeld, SportsCenter, Late Show with David Letterman, The Countdown with Keith Olbermann, Cable News, Good Eats, Emeril, Unwrapped. Of course, if there's a baseball, football, basketball or hockey game on; that takes precedent.

Books:

Seabiscuit, Slaughterhouse-Five, Vonnegut; The Firm, John Grisham; DaVinci Code; Moneyball; Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay; Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil; In Cold Blood; Baseball's Last Dynasty; Curse of the Bambino.

Heroes:

Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Chelsea Clinton, Rickey Henderson, Cal Ripken, Bruce Springsteen, Howard Stern, my Uncle.

Baseball Apologists Be Damned

Do you get the feeling Major League Baseball has done more than moved a franchise to Washington, D.C., but also learned the simple Beltway strategy of smearing opponents. Since bits of Jose Canseco...

Be Wary of Jason Kendall

The A's traded spare parts in pitchers, Mark Redman and Arthur Rhodes to acquire the Pirates rugged-faced catcher, Jason Kendall, last week. My complaint with some of Billy Beane's acquisitions is ...

Leave The Game Barry

Sound the alarms. Our national pastime is near the point of irreparable harm. We all could deduce that Jason Giambi like Gary Sheffield, Ken Caminiti, Mark McGwire and Jose Canseco used steroids. ...
