Welcome to the site of a music-addict
I am a paradoxial creature. Im relaxed and kind, yet i define myself through the weirdest most intense/agressive or subtle music and experiences out there.
I play the guitar in a metal band. Our aim is to gracefully combine opposites like technicality and melody into an already worn out and tried out genre, thus hopefully creating something people will be able to connect with and find both fascinating and inspired. The influences I bring to the table on this endevour-extraordinaire lies mainly in the alternative realm of music, and usually defies both conformity and mass production.
Apart from the band action, I write and record accoustic music in my spare time, something ive found that I really identify with and really enjoy. I like the element of being able to express my emotions in a very solitary way, not having to take 4 other guys emotions into account but instead describing, through music, my very own state of mind. Also Ive found myself to be rather good at writing beautiful accoustic passages.
Im intrigued and compelled by music that move me, like music with alternative / progressive / introspective / reflective qualities. Deep music, constructed and devised with a purpose. Music with an identity and with the abillity to challenge my perceptions and my observations. I dont waste my time with much mainstream metal/rock, much less mainstream music in general, although I do draw upon most genres for inspiration. The albums in my collection that deviate from this description are there, mostly for sentimental reasons or because they somehow affected me or has a unique approach to some element in music.
I used to be into all kinds of extreme metal and had no interest in any other genres, but in time found that the lack of calm reflection and challenging insights didnt go well with my growing wish for expression of all emotions rather than just a few. And so, the underground and alternative scene, housing all genres from the most subtle of expressions to the most extreme, volatile, agressive and avant-garde ones, is now my home. Thus my record collection has begun featuring alot more music defined by any combination of the words: psychedelic, stoner, post, drone, progressive, accoustic, ambient, tech, math, folk and many many more. I basically have a ridiculously open mind towards music as long as the integrity is there. Its a definite turn-off when people do it for the wrong reasons or with the wrong motive.

My Last.fm profile
I attend an obscene amount of concerts these days and I repeatedly scour Myspace and Last.fm for new inspiration. Im in constant search for that "rush" or "high" you get when you find some small obscure band whose music touches your soul on such a deep level and for the briefest of moments allows you to feel what I can only describe as what I suspect religious people feel when they experience their 'God'.
The feeling you get when you fall absolutely in love with a song or a genre is to me one of the greatest emotional experiences in the world, matched only by the love between kindred spirits.
Im also into taking concert photos and while I may not be very professional Ive had some very lucky moments. You can see some of my concert pictures in the pictures section.
Im currently studying to become a climate researcher/scientist in the danish capital, which will obviously occupy my mind for quite some time in the future (it is in the nature of the job as a scientist to always be "studying"). In the mean time I wish to travel to more fascinating places and experience the energy and culture in different corners of the world. Quoting H.C. Andersen: "To Travel is to live". My biggest accomplishent as of yet was travelling to inner Norway and climbing/walking in several thousand meter high mountains! :D
Heres a few videos of songs that really mean alot to me.
The almighty Isis and their "In fiction" taken from the eversoimpressive album "Panopticon":
Then theres the song "Razoreater" off the coming Amenra album "Mass IV". Im really looking forward to that one hitting the shelves. THe lead singer has a very special voice and it definitely took me a few weeks getting used to it, but once youre past that the music is just awesome!
also the extremely impressive song "Not unlike the Waves" by the alternative doom band "Agalloch". Sadly this song was cut very short for this video (its usually around 9 minutes, or so, long) but its still so touching.
Heres a song by the magnificent swedish band "Logh". Its very relaxed and it always makes me reflect a lot. I catched their show recently when they where supporting the magnificent Isis.
I share my name with an amazing Instrumental postrock band from New Zealand. This is the video for a song off their debut cd. Its called "Verstaeker":
Heres the newest video from danish tech/sludge metallers "The Psyke Project" I love how the song goes from extreme rage to an utterly overwhelming sad feel.
This song by the finnish "Rapture" is so amazing. When I first heard it i mustve played it over and over like 20 times! Very touching lyrics too!

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

People with the same burning passion for music and with the same desire and interest in lifes little oddities. People who, like me, can find themself suddenly amazed by the smallest of things and a breath later, be engulfed in deep thoughts about life.

Here's a map showing where all my current visitors reside.
