See, I've been reading other folks' profiles on myspace and discovered that my profile either says nothing about me or just flat out sucks. I'll give you your damn labels!).Born and raised in a working class family and city, I went to my first political demonstration when I was eight years old and realized two important principles: If you want something you have to demand it; and that it's important to stand up for what you believe in even if you stand alone.Art, particularly drawing and music are the pillars of my life as they've helped me get through some shitty times. I didn't really have friends for a lot of years in my life and had a hard time telling people how I felt and how I was doing so I used to cut myself when I was angry or depressed 'cause I wanted so damn badly to have some sorta control of the shit in my life. I'm learning now to try to talk to people whenever I have difficulties and to ask for help when I need to. I also live a rediculously frugal life so that I can save money to pay people to poke holes in me to make pretty little designs.My current mission is to be the best "me" I can be (yea I know. Cornball statement of the year), and to repay my debt to my community who loved me before I knew how to love myself.I think I genuinely like people but I have a hard time connecting with people on a level that I feel is beyond the superficial "hi-bye" thing.One day, I will actually work up the nerve to do the "hey, my name is Alecs. I think you're pretty cool, wanna go out for coffee some time?" thing. But until then, this virtual tool for meeting people will have to do.Oh, and by the way, I prefer to have the pronoun "she" used for me, so please don't be an ass and act accordingly.
