Born in Woodbridge, Virginia and growing up in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Erik Bledsoe has always been challenged by his parents Christ-like example since he was little. On October 18, 1983 Bledsoe’s father led him to Christ over a bowl of macaroni and cheese and a hot dog when Bledsoe prompted his dad with the question "what does the word salvation mean?" Being raised in a home where faith in God is the utmost priority has rooted a devotion and trust deep within Bledsoe that is reflected in him today. After high school Bledsoe went to the Word of Life Bible Institute where he finished the Biblical Studies major. “My Father instilled in me at a very young age a love for the scriptures. He helped me study and I taught my first Sunday School class while I was in the Third Grade†recalls Bledsoe, “so Bible college for me was the first, most important step.â€Coming from a musical family, music has been a part of Bledsoe’s life almost since birth. In the fall of 1998 Bledsoe transferred to Belmont University and pursued a degree in Music Business. This is where Bledsoe‘s songwriting was truly birthed. Bledsoe’s first project was released in the spring of 2002. His self-titled debut was produced by Ainsley Grosser, along with celebrated musicians from established acts like Hillsong, Crystal Lewis and Avalon. In the summer of 2004 Bledsoe met his soon to be wife Betsy and they were married a year later. Following the spiritual wisdom of his family and mentors Bledsoe took time away from music, in a full time capacity, to help lay the foundation for their marriage before heading back on the road full time. “During this time away the Lord has not only refreshed, but continued to grow my passion for developing true community in the local church and for helping others see and serve the lost, broken, and hurting among us†says Bledsoe.Even though he has taken time away from touring, Bledsoe’s songwriting has never missed a beat. In just the past two years he has had five songs recorded by major label artists in the Jazz, Christian and Country music industries. Now, with the release of his second project "Response" (July 2007), Bledsoe and his team are back out on the road. The calendar has been filling up fast since his return debut opening for Michael W. Smith in July!“It’s different this time†says Bledsoe, “God has taught me so much about what it does and does not mean to be a follower of Jesus. For me, music and worship are an extension and expression of my relationship with the Lord as well as of the people He has called me to walk with and serve. This project is, in it’s own way, an invitation for people to enter into that same journey with Jesus.†Bledsoe continues, “Jesus taught us to pray "...Thy Kingdom come, Thy Will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven." My passion is bringing Heaven to Earth, serving Jesus by engaging people in worship and encouraging the saints towards a more intimate relationship with Jesus. Not only through songs and teachings, but also through serving those around us in our homes, schools, jobs and communities. For more information on hosting Erik Bledsoe and his band please review the “Booking Info†page or email us directly at
