The Bedouin Thieves

About Me

The Bedouin Thieves were born in the midst of NYC's brutally hot summer of 2002, when sisters Laura (guitar/vocals) and Rita (drums/vocals) joined forces with bassist/vocalist Marcia for a series of collaborative musical experiments at Tu Casa. It wasn't long before the trio developed a unique chemistry and an intense discipline. A few months later, they added cellist/vocalist Greg to the mix, and they crowned themselves The Bedouin Thieves. The Thieves create dark, dynamic music, most instantly recognizable by a pervading post-punk influence. However, also present are Middle-Eastern, reggae, and noise undercurrents. Dance- oriented beats, processed cello, and angular melodies give the Thieves a deep and all-encompassing sound. The result is a hybrid that drives dance floors and brainwaves.*Note: Greg is no longer in the band as of 11/8/05.
